rps Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Fished Saturday morning. Five topwater bites on a Super Spook Jr. Four fish in the boat, two legal and the other two just missed. Ran upriver and found I could now go under the Beaver Bridge even in my center console, provided I took the rods out of the vertical holders and ducked down behind the console. Didn't catch a thing up there but enjoyed seeing the water. I tried some new areas and depths for walleye after the sun came up. No joy. Sooner or later I will find them this year. I am beginning to scope larger baitfish balls, a good sign for summer patterns.
techo Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 We went out this morning as well. We did not get on the water until 9:00 AM. It was a day to spend with the Mrs. We put in at Aunt's Creek and fished up to point 13. We had eight or nine in the boat, two lost while reeling to the boat. Most were shorts or near keepers. We had a blast. Might try to throw some pictures on here later. All of the fish came on secondary points with smoke tail grub or a Eakins jig. The Mrs. drove the boat and had a blast. It was an incredible day. A lot of Jets Skis and big boats, but they were pleasant and waved as they went by. We finally had to leave the lake due to all of the traffic. Tim Carpenter
Bill Babler Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 RPS My banker out of the Knob, was up there last week trout fishing. He said they had no trouble getting under the bridge, going up. They went up to just below, Spider, and as soon as they got their baits out, the horn sounded. By the time they got back down, they scraped going under on the windshield of his center console Blue Wave. Folks, be careful unless you like to walk. RPS, please list you phone number as a shuttle service back to Eagle Rock, from Beavertown. Could be some gas money in it for ya. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Bill Babler Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 T. The Beckester and I fished a derby this AM out of Kimberling and didn't get up there till about 8 AM cause of the fog. That is about the most boat traffic skiing, and also fishing as I have ever seen on the Rock. We sucked it up, as there was 3 boats, minium, on all our secret spots, and huge waves everywhere we went. Was this Lake O. or was it just in my Nightmares. Pulled up on the spot we had caught 25 and 28 pounds on respectfully, and one of the locals was sitting on it. He said," Wish I would have known you boy's were coming this way. Already had 18 pounds off here. They kind of stopped biting now, you can go ahead and fish it." We caught 9 big pounds and that was it for our day. Lots of shorts into double digets on a rig. Good guide fish as some were over 2 pounds, but not derby fish. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Champ188 Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Fished the same derby, Bill, and had the same opinion of the boat traffic. Good grief, it was awful. Told my wife/partner that I thought it was the worst I'd ever seen on the Rock. Glad to hear you say the same. Didn't know if it was just me or what. We were fishing points in the James and NOT fishing that far out from the tree line and twice had boats run between us and the trees. Could have clocked either one of em with a football jig and it sure was tempting. Ah, the joys of summer.
