jdmidwest Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 The human traffic, trash, and fire pits are bad enough. But to paint something like that really ruins it for all,. Last I heard there was a reward posted in local paper. But it was probably just kids that won't get caught. Guest Brian B. Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 No, I didn't see any defacing whatsoever. (And I was glad of it)... Taking my three girls there this weekend- and we are going to look at some other spots- Millstream Glades, and probably the Thompson Access Area- I was geeking last nightI WOW, there are cool spots all around me, I need to find a local bait. Shop etc and start asking questions. Google searches such as "access+river+63645" were doing pretty well last night, I will get back to it before the weekend. I enjoy wading, but I really like to fish. My Intex Mariner4 raft, super comfy, and I have gear, cooler etc... Wading you are so limited. Next spring I'm hitting it hard, keeping spots, and taking photos. (Keep 12ish largemouth too where legal- I like themm tiny) But. To. Ansper your question, Nope, no graffitti. There are two more areas that had shut ins that we are going to as well if time permits. Boy Amidon was loaded up with what looked to be hog suckers, and the first big pool I came to there were clues that smallies live just down river. (Kinda gunshy of public-ish waters, had some white trash run us off of Fourche Ren. A few years ago- called the game warden and all- we were legal- game warden was furious.. Long story... Anyway, idiots like that ruin any thoughts of legally expolring public water so I really. Want to find out where I can/cant go before hand)
Geoff Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 Amidon is on my list of places to hit. i'd love to this time of year with all the leaves changing colors. "When you do things right, people wont be sure you've done anything at all."
David Unnerstall Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 According to my observation there is a narrow belt of pink granite rocks stretching east to west. I do like that scenery.
Guest Brian B. Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 I have never seen anything like that place- girls are excited to go this weekend, little Brother agreed with my summary of the place- I don't need to try to tie fishing to it, it is worthy of simply going and taking it in... Remember the double rainbow guy onyou tube- LOL, its that kind of place, insanely cool and unmolested. You should go for. Sure. Bring a fanny style fishing pack and a micro-lite- just in case you wanna.
Gavin Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Amidon is a very pretty spot...but really skinny water this time of year...The Castor is a wasting stream that goes underground and re-emerges in several reaches...so its often a long walk between areas that hold fish...Best bet is to bridge hop....its not really floatable until you ge down to 34...There are a couple campgrounds there that might run a shuttle for you.
Guest Brian B. Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Yeah it looked a bit skinny. Figure I'll have to go a good bit downstream to find any real prospects.
