Fishin' Freak Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Good work Techo! Nice to see you getting your daughter out. I can't wait till my son can go with me!!!
Whack'emGood Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Thats great! Looks like she caught herself a nice one too. "Success builds confidence, and you have to learn to trust your instincts and forget about fishing the way a tournament is supposed to be won. I'm going to fish my style and make it work for me." -KEVIN VANDAM "Confidence is the best lure in your tackle box." -GERALD SWINDLE "A-Rig? Thanks, but no thanks. If I can't catch them on the conventional tackle that I already use, then I guess I just can't catch them." -LK (WHACK'EM)
techo Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 I have been lucky the last few weeks. When the kids were young, we used to fish from early morning to late into the dark of night. I kind of burnt them out and they haven't wanted to fish for a while. I was happily surprised when she volunteered to go fishing with me today. My son volunteered last week. I let them drive the boat the whole time. It was a fun day! Taking the wife tomorrow. The down side is that they don't like to go as early as I prefer, but it was a total fun day. We caught mostly kentuckys in fiften feet of water. We used a little 5/16 Jewel jig tipped with a green double tailed grub. I asked her to cast out and wait until the line stopped sinking and then drag the rod. Most of the fish hit as soon as she moved the jig. It seemed to be the slower we moved the rod the better chance we had at a catch. We also found a little rock near point 9 which was pretty kind to us. I caught a couple on a drop shot with a little red Chompers drop shot worm. I received the worms for free from some charity tournament we fished this year. All in all one of the best days I havhad fishing ever. There are some jigs about forty feet up in a tree though. Tim Carpenter

Gary Lange Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Where is this local Nixa Coffee Shop? Respect your Environment and others right to use it!
Fishin' Freak Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Gary, It is on 160 across from Wal-Mart. It is just south of the Wild Fork catering place. Great coffee.
techo Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 It is a tough place to find. I think it is 1005 or 1009 Kenneth, same frontage road Ziggies is on but to the north. I have to agree it is good coffee. Maybe the best in the lower 48! Tim Carpenter
Gary Lange Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Okay I know where you're talking about now. May have to come around and have a cup myself. Respect your Environment and others right to use it!
