I agree. I dont care what ppl keep to a point. Dont like fish hogs but keeping fish is what its about and what the creel limits are set for. However, I read on here that ppl are not finding the fish like they used too. There are so many ppl fishing with state of the art equipment and fish finders etc., it is making a difference even out here in Kansas. The fish are just not there anymore. Catching coolers full of crappie finally will catch up with a lake. HOWEVER, wait two years down there and see what happens due to this high water. Will be the best fishing ever. I hope I am moved there by then. Years two to five will be phenonenal. Crappie will be first to respond, then the bass fishing in years 4 to ten will be so good.

I would not have kept it but dont blame the guy who did. Its fishing and thats what fish are for. That is what they are raised for. Plus those browns are so aggresive they eat a lot of other fish. I have just gone past killing them for some reason. My son laughs at me. But its a factor of age and having caught so many fish. Kinda like duck hunting. I like to decoy them but dont need to kill my limit. Two is plenty and even then not as fun as it used to be. When they dcoy in, I know I can make the shot so whats the challenge at that point.

Has anyone else gone thru these emotions? I think its age related too. Not sure. Saw my dad go thru that and was amazed then. Now its me. hahahh

I feel the same way about Whitetail hunting. I used to rifle, shotgun and bow hunt. Now all i do is bow hunt and i have started becoming more particular about what i harvest. I think age has alot to do with it and also challenging yourself also. Same goes for turkey hunting.

Ohh well......I thought this thread was going to be funny ^_^ I would'nt have joined in if I would have known otherwise ;) Thought maybe...........we could have some fun once in awhile and not take every thread to heart  The other post was closed because it was stale and repetitive,IMHO.The first post on this thread was funny .........so I played along.Maybe we can start a forum that is only for joking around.........I know alot of you take these issue's to heart and some if not all have merit......but pleeeeese people let the ones that want to have fun........have fun. :D Man I hate tip-toeing around these issues...........okay,back to topic.

First off I can't BELIEVE that I was away from the forum for awhile and missed all the excitement about the big brown! Well, more specifically about the opinions. Then dang - the thread got closed  And I missed it again.

Boy Shawncat you are right about the sensitivity around here. Phil or Dano can we have an area where we can go and be funny and make fun of people and ourselves and no one is allowed in who takes life too seriously?

I mean you gotta admit Fat kids and hillbillies using powerbait was FUNNY!! Come on now. Unless you are one of the above -that had to make you chuckle - if not, please check into your local DE-sensitivitiy facility. Then talking about fly fisherman with lace panties - - hehehehe GOOD stuff!!!

But several people immediately came to the defense of Fat kids and hillbillies and I think they are getting preferential treatment on this board. I don't think that we should put Fat kids and hillbillies interests ahead of panty wearing upright fly fisherman. I think this board has crossed the line. As a slim boy who grew up in Iowa I feel very left out.

Funny you mention being left out. I was just about to comment that most of us fall into one of the two categories of Fat Kids or Hillbillys. I just started running each day so I know which one I now fall into  I guess that still leaves using powerbait. Better hurry up and get some so you won't be offended you were left out.

I'm a Fat(tening) Hillbilly type. It is what it is, what can I say?

hehe...

(yup...sometimes it seems the place is a little stiff, but I respect the owner and he can keep his place the way he wants!)

Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn. ~Chuck Clark

If we had a post of the day you should get it!Thanks for coming to the rescue :P Man,I thought I killed the thread.

Was thinking of changing from shawncat to shawnthethreadkiller :D

Now if we could get rid of these lame emoticons and get some up to date icons. We could show what a bunch of fun loving, rabble rousing, knee slapping FISHERMEN we really our.Not having to worry about hurting feelings, stepping on toes, disrespecting.I know I have hurt feelings, stepped on toes, disrespected here in the past, but surely not on purpose, and at least not without a smile on my face. But nobody can see my face, hence a funny icon.I hold no grudges here on anyone, never have, never will.Lifes way to short for that.Im all for healthy debate but gentlemen, when the day is over,it's over!Tomorrow's another day.If an outsider or insider for that matter would read some of these threads, they surely would'nt think we are a bunch of friends talking about our passion.IMHO.........I have to print"IMHO" here so's not to offend. :P

SORRY
