I can recall turning over rocks on the upper end and literally hundreds of the shrimp would be there. In my earlier post, I said that I started night fishing in 74, change that to 1975. After checking my log book, I realized that I had made the mistake. Do you remember Russ, Andy, Pat, and Bob ? Did not know their last names. Names that I do remember=Fred Grimes, George Girth, Mike Curry, Doug Owens, Jim McGowin, Bill Butts & his father,Dave Bethurm, Corky Hinkle. Back then a big crowd was 30 people. Some of these people are still in the area and still fish.

Laker dont forget Bruce Koch, and Perry Watts,Wynn Golden, Ken Mcquarry, Boyd Pyatt,and I remember a guy that guided on tcomo that had a bass boat that was called the Happy Hooker but cant remember his name.

Ken Mcquarry does sound familiar as I think about it. Was he the mayor of Hollister in the 70's?

Historically, these draw downs have forced all the warm water species that have migrated upstream, back down into the Lower. You will find the crappie and white bass fishing to be exceptionally good down here during that time period. When they bring the water back up, you will be able to catch warm water species on pretty much anything, for the fresh water will turn them into a frenzy as they feed thier way back to thier preferred area of the lake.

What can be done to restore the shrimp populations as they once were??? Why are there very few if any 20" rainbows in the lake? Do bait fishers catch all the 19" fish? Granted brown trout may prey on the rainbows, but at least some should show up more than 20"?

Nothing really. MDC would if there was anything.

I bet to differ. I think they're more 20+ rainbows in the lake right now than we've had in 25 years.

This doesn't make any sense to me. Bait fishers catch fish below Fall Creek and they probably will keep the best fish they catch. But why 19 inches? It makes no difference below Fall Creek. Now if would make sense if you said artificialers catch and keep 20 inch rainbows above Fall Creek- and I'm sure some do but most of the 20 inchers are released that I know of.
