taxidermist
http://www.americasright.com/2008/08/obama...ia-federal.html Also found a link stating he was infact born in Kenya nd when his mother went to Hawaii that it was easy to get a child a BC because of the location of the island and transportation. Personally I could not vote for O because he lacks the skill to run our country and has never been in charge of anything other than organizing unions. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted August 25, 2008 Root Admin Share Posted August 25, 2008 I googled this story and the only ones carrying it are conservative sites- no news sites mention the suit. Snopes.com doesn't mention it either. The story is 4 days old. I am inclined to disallow all political topics of the forum. This forum doesn't need to become a platform for every forward and pot-shot sound bite from either side of the isle.
Trav
I agree with Phil. This is a fishing site and politics and religion don't belong. We as a society are proned to disagree and that agreement isn't always implied. Let it be known, I am guilty of throwing such discussions out here that touch buttons that primarily should be discussed on different forums. I also enjoy the debate and really enjoy ruffling feathers. For that I apologize to Phil. I know he really don't mind my antics but when it starts to personally effect others he has no choice but to act for the good of the site. It really don't belong here. That I know. I also know I have a little bit of a following that likes my candor and retort. As long as it is fishing related, You will continue to see that. Just no more talk outside of fishing. There are a million other sites to vent about religion and politics. All this chatter does nothing but divert the entire agenda of the site. Wich is fishing! Out of respect, since this is not my own personal dumping ground of social resentment, I have to submit. We all should find other sites to talk about this other stuff. I am a member of the Glen Beck Club. Not a bad place to start looking for the other sites. I am going to make a deliberate intention to focus on the topic of fishing. Biting my tongue won't be easy, but when people are saying they don't like participating on this site due to the fact we bash on each other, we have a problem. I will say, that on my own defense, that there are plenty of non fishing forums on this site. Including prayer and there are plenty of threads related to religion. I have always steered clear of those out of respect. I understand my beliefs differ so whats the point. Bottom line...I am tired of saying I am sorry for what I believe. As long as it is just fishing we are talking about, I know I have the upper hand. My advice to everyone else is...don't push my buttons and I won't push yours. Phil asked me if I wanted any freinds here. I didnt answer, but the truth? Either you respect me or not. I don't care. He also said I didnt offend him. Tells me he is still my friend. I know one thing. This is his site. We all have to respect that. Trav has to help him keep it clean. "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. jdmidwest
I tend to disagree with you Phil about the politics and its relevance to the outdoorsmen on this forum. While the jabs and stabs of the typical campaign mud may be out of place here, the facts about how they affect our hunting and fishing rights are very important. If someone attempts to change my right to fish or hunt, I feel it is my right to counter that and let my voice be heard. I don't aim at anybody on here, just try to broadcast a few facts and personal beliefs. Personal attacks and religion are a different matter. So it seems that shuffling, catch and release, and various other topics lately. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. taxidermist
Since I dont hear music well, some tones mix with words, I listen to talk radio. I do listen to both sides on XM. What I hear most is the name calling on the liberal station Randi Rhoades, Ed Shultz and the like, and seldom do they have anything to backup their statements. The Conservative side most times have information to back up their statements. What we have seen from Obama is he plans to spend billions on welfare programs, he will raise taxes. He claims to be middle class (middle class people seldom are IVY league) He truely has nothing to bring to the White House, no experience. McCain is the best we have to vote for in this election, I am not saying he is the best person for the job, but he is not saying the Constitution needs to be changed. He has defended the document we live and die by! Politics does have everything to do with our life style of hunting and fishing and the FREEDOMS we enjoy. General Chat maybe this is specific chat. The vote and how it goes may well direct if you can fish in three years or even less.
Danoinark
I am apolitical and espouse the fact that I vote independently. I also welcome a healthy informative discussion of politics but in the right venue. I certainly don't fault anyone for talking about their pick but I also find it offensive that people name call the candidates no matter what political affiliation. I feel this is disrespectful to the candidates and those who read it. Dano ps...Trav I agree with you as you posted "It really don't belong here." jdmidwest
I think that in this stage of the game it would be too late. He surely is not stupid enough to not think it would have come up. If his parents were US citizens and they just happened to be there and she gave birth, what would be the ruling on that? Although, I still await a late minute powerplay from the Billary campaign, she has been too quiet lately..... jdmidwest
Here you go Chief, my bitch against him............ Remember, he is a senator from Illinois, one of the most anti-gun in the US. The laws Barack Obama supports that the NRA are vehemently against include: * Mandatory waiting periods to purchase a gun (Why? most criminals steal them) * Requiring citizens to actually register their firearms (Most crimes are commited with ILLEGAL guns) * Mandatory micro stamping of guns to aid tracing weapons (don't forget to serial number ammo too!) * Banning inexpensive handguns that make it easier for criminals to acquire (I would rather them have a cheap gun, I would have the advantage with my SIG) * Limit gun purchases to one gun a month * Require training for gun owners ( I can't argue with that one) * Restrict gun ownership to citizens 21 and older * Eliminate right to carry concealed weapons (worked too hard for that one and crime rates are falling because of CCW) * Ban gun shops from operating within 5 miles of a school (Kids need a good wholesome place to hang out, keeps them out of tattoo parlors) * Ban resale of police firearms which include high powered assault weapons (as opposed to "low" powered MP5's) * Ban high capacity ammunition magazines that are often used by gang members in drive by shootings and not needed to kill a deer (or to defend your right to protect yourself from the drive by shooter) "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S.
