flyfishmaster Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Phil, As others have mentioned, there are a lot of people that visit Taney (or other Ozark streams/rivers) only one time in their life or one time a year. For people like this, why not put together 12 (the number can vary) flies and sell it as a Packaged Deal (double up on the hottest flies) call it some like Lilleys Hot List. You can change the selection at any time. You can have a set for spin fisherman as well. I got this idea based off my past experienced when hiring a guide for a day. Most of the time the guides would use between 4 8 different files throughout the entire day. Once you find the pattern you stuck with that setup for as long as fish were biting. Jack Jones Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 I'll second the idea of a hot list. One of the websites I've looked at flyshack.com has fly assortments of 25 essential or 50 essentials with a little plastic box that's a good idea for those starting out. Since Taneycomo can and is such a unique body of water, I think something like that for Taneycomo is a great idea. Tim---you could do the same for Roaring River since you know that one better than anyone. Lshack2 Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 When I got started tying it was really hard to know what materials I need for specific flies that I read on the forum. It would be really cool if you offered some "kits" may a Taney midge kit with recipes for some common flies and various materials such as specific tread such as primrose with matched size beads hooks and wire. Same thing could be done with streamers, scuds, jigs , eggs even San Juan worms. I now have a whole bunch of materials but always need something to tie a specific pattern. If these were offered kits online it could really expand you market for those from out of town. You and your shop offer knowledge that is very unique and many would pay a premium to gain that knowledge.
