Members onetrack
Hello all....I am new to this forum and I actually joined this morning for the purpose of asking a question. I have an original pre cotton-cordell Big O fishing lure that was made and signed by Fred C. Young. There is also a number (maybe a serial number??) #1669 in the lower left from the bill (if you were looking at the lure head on). This lure was given to my Late Father quite a few years ago by my uncle in Oak Ridge Tenn. where he worked with Mr. Young at the nuclear plant. It has been sitting in a ceramic mug for some time now and I'd hate to use it if it were a collector's item. If anyone knows anything about this lure or what it might be worth (I am not a collector so I would be willing to sell it to a collector that would appreciate it) please e-mail me at onetrackbowler@yahoo.com or just reply to this thread. Cheers, Bob Meeks Jr.
RSBreth
Dudley Murphy is a professor at Drury who has written several books on old and collectable lures, and I think he edits a quarterly newsletter about the same thing. Anyway- I don't know him personally, but he'll probably respond to a kind email with pictures like you posted here. dmurphy@drury.edu
fishinwrench
Just curious what it would be worth.....or better yet "what it would bring" $$$ ? I have one like it also, in its box. They were sent out as "gifts" with a B.A.S.S./Bassmaster magazine renewal in the late 80's early 90's Also have a plug... Moonlite bait co. .... (same deal) that has the B.A.S.S. logo on one side of it. I assumed thousands of these were sent out...but maybe not. Anyone know ?
