laker67 Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Arkansas has enacted a 24 inch minimum length limit for brown trout on Bull shoals & Norfolk tailwaters effective Jan. 2009. What is it going to take to get that same 24 inch limit established for Tablerock tailwaters?

rps Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 C and R all Browns. C and R all rainbows over 18". If they make it to that size, let them breed.
laker67 Posted August 27, 2008 Author Posted August 27, 2008 C and R all Browns. C and R all rainbows over 18". If they make it to that size, let them breed. rps, No new records could ever be established if C & R were in force. I think that only T-como is capable of producing any future records. I'm refering to Missouri state records for trout. As far as I am aware, MDC will not accept a record without verification by their people. C & R in the trout parks is that the fish is returned immediately back to the water. No weighing, no pictures, no possession.
bigredbirdfan Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Clearly they are committed to their cause. Also committed to holding some serious records for the forseable future.
jjtroutbum Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 No weighing, no pictures, no possession. I have to believe that all this can been done for personal memories while in the water moments prior to release. However it would exclude moving the fish away from the banks where you are fishing. There for excluding taking a fish to certified scales. So I do agree with the rest of your post but wanted everyone to realized that a photo could still be taken. jdmidwest Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 That should make for some nice fish. I wonder why they don't set a size limit for the rainbows. It would cut down on the stocking and increase the amount of fish in the stream. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
laker67 Posted August 27, 2008 Author Posted August 27, 2008 jj, You are correct, and we all do it including weighing the fish in the net. I even think that they frown somewhat at using a net, but I think that the net is best way to land a fish for release purposes. The fish never leaves the water unless you do a quick weighing by hooking your scale in the handle of the net. I personally will not weigh a fish unless I think that it is 10 pounds or bigger. Three years ago, I was warned by a park ranger that I should not be weighing the fish. That happened at roaring during c & r.
Murdoc Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 You know I've got both hands up for that vote!!! One other question comes up. Are they going to check the boats that run to the cable and fish with anything they want and keep what they want?? That would be a sweet thing for Taney and all trout there. I'm guilty of weighing trout in C&R season. I get too curious! Smiles are free http://rdpflyrods.com/

Fortunately, violations are at a minimum on the upper end. Do you know how we could lobby for this 24 inch limit. There has to be a way to get the attention of MDC , to either say yes or no. But I don't know where to start.
