So why ask the question?

If someone is bombing government buildings or abortion clinics it does not matter if they kill anyone, they are reckless crazy people who could kill people and should be locked up for life, not teaching at Northwestern or the U of Chicago.

I wonder how the media would react if Mcain had a fund raiser at the home of an unappoligitic abortion clinic bomber or attened a clan church?

You must admit, the double standards are stagering.

I think it is a legit question. Why is he teaching? If he is the terrible human that is claimed he is and I am not saying he is not, but why are tax payer monies paying his wage?

I know people and have hung around people that have had felony convictions. Does that make me a felon too?

He and his wife are teaching to infect the world with their radical ideas. I can't explain how such a person gets a public education job.

Depending on what those felonies were, and if your friends are sorry for having committed them(which Ayres is NOT), I would evaluate those things before I passed any judgement on you.

It would not make you a felon, but I would have to question your judgement. That being said, I am all about forgivness to some one who is truely sorry. It is hard to get thru this life without making mistakes and hurting people.

Are you a terrorist? Are you a felon? If so, I don't think you are allowed to vote so your opinion would not really matter anyway.

Where did this attitude come from? Why would anyone on this forum believe anyone on here may be a terrorist under the Patriot Act? Chief, what happened to friendly discussions, seems like things are getting a little personal and combative.

If you look into the article you will see Ayers was not prosecuted because of the way the FBI handled the investigation. Basically, they violated his civil rights in the way they collected the evidence against the group. Today, with the Patriot Act in place, he may have been shipped to Club Gitmo. Does it make him any less guilty, NO. Should he be teaching to young minds, NO.

What does this have to do with Governor Palin and Tasergate?

Many get confused that Palin fired her ex-brother in law over the matter and do no realize the issue really was about a person in charge farther up the chain, Monegan. He refused direct orders from his superior, Palin, and she reassigned him to a different position. He either quit or was fired for failing to do his job at that position. The ex brother in law was a screw up, drinking while on duty, tasering his kid, and shooting a moose out of season. Palin never was able to get his job or exact any gain over the matter using her powers of Governorship. Todd Palin seems to be a culprit to some extent, being a strong business man, he may have been using his abilities to get something done.

This matter has been going on for a long time, over a year if I remember correctly, just got pushed to center stage because of the election.

I really don't see how this even compares to Obama and his terriorist friends....

I try to stay out of the political stuff, but I keep getting sucked in. I will preface with the statement that I am voting for McCain/Palin.

The issue with Monegan is that he was offered the position over the ABC Board when he was removed from head of troopers. but he refused the new position. He was never actually fired. He was removed as Chief of Anchorage Police earlier and replaced with the former President of APOA (Anchorage Police Officer Association.) The police union.

Wooten was already punished for his transgressions by the former admin. Palin became Governor and wanted him out. Monegan's position was that Wooten had already been punished and could not be punished twice for the same transgression. Seems like a fair statement to me. If one of you were to get penalized at work with a verbal warning. written warning or suspension......then a year later your sister-in-law becomes your boss and wants to fire you....is that fair?

Palin was also cutting the budget for troopers big time! Monegan kept giving raises and not doing as Palin asked. Everyone was surprised when Monegan was chosen for the Trooper job. He was an awesome Lieutenant for APD, but not exactly a fireball as Chief. They are about 100 officers short right now and morale is in the pooper. Monegan is an Alaskan Native and that carries a great deal of weight in the bush there. One great thing about Monegan is that he stands up for his people.

The moose incident is no where near the way it seems to be getting written about. Chris ( a friend of mine), Todd and his wife were hunting. Todd shot a moose with his wife's tag. I can do that with a deer with my wife's tag in Minnesota. Not sure about AK on that though.

The tasing incident is also misconstrued in the press. So are a couple of other things.

Steve Branchflower is known as a very thorough and fair investigator. I am sure he did a great job. He found that Palin had every right to remove Monegan and did nothing illegal, but some of her actions were considered unethical. The greatest part is that she let Todd have too much access to Alaska State stuff.

I am not trying to sway anyone's mind or vote. That is your decision. Welcome to America! I did want to try to clarify some stuff that is inaccurate about trooper gate and Monegan.

Whew! That ended up longer than I thought it would be. My apologies.

No you have to get caught first to be a felon. Dont worry tho as long as the Dems are around there wont be too much pressure on the criminals.

jdmidwest stole some of me thunder so this might be repetive

Taxi can you find for me how many were killed and injured in any of those bombings? I can't seem to find that anywhere. You must have some information that I don't know of. Or anybody for that matter.

I don’t know how everyone else reads this but to me looks like that if no one dies it is Ok to bomb buildings. Looks as if some people did die. (Which is alright I guess since death is Ok if it’s for some domestic protest but if it’s for national security and the protection of OUR freedom it’s not OK). If it weren’t for the military fighting for freedom for us then William Ayers wouldn’t have had the right to blow those buildings I guess, maybe the Dems are right Bush is wrong for fighting for us just to have some left wing nut use his freedom of expression against us. We should just the Dems take over everything so that their New World Order can start falling into place. What are we thinking that freedom is all that great and all? Heck who knows when the Dems get into power we might not have the right to discuss this on internet or anywhere for that matter(Socialism is like that you know, they make sound so good then WHAM what do you know we are know the United States of Cuba

Why is there the double standard? Why is it OK for a terrorist to kill and target police and government buildings and not OK for a terrorist to protect children? That seems kind of backwards to me. It also pushes me to believe that the Dems promote and defend lawless actions with no repercussions which is why I have chosen to not vote Dem until they hold people accountable for their actions, which is totally against the Dem credo. Just wait the first thing the Dems will abolish is the “charge of reckless abandonment” that way they won’t be living outside the law.

Thanks Techno for clarifying the info regarding the trooper thing. I have been reading Alaska Daily News online since 1999 when I planned the first trip to Alaska. I mainly read the Outdoors section, but read the headlines when I have time. I had read a few articles on the matter and had a pretty good idea of what was going on. I am no expert on Alaska, I have just been interested in it most of my life. My Grandparents made 2 trips there in my youth and I viewed many a slide show. My best friend did a residency internship in Kenai back in 1995, and made several annual trips back there. His good friend from high school moved there after graduation and has lived there ever since. I have been there twice and plan on going back several times more. Last year when we were in Alaska, I met Governor Palin at the Alaska State Fair in the Matanuska Maid milk stand. I wish I had taken a picture of us with her, would have been great to have now.

I also know the Alaska State Troopers/Alaska Game Wardens have had a rough time in the last few years since they combined departments. I would think they probably have a rough time on patrol with the weather, long nights, and the alcohol and drug abuse that plagues Alaska residents. Alot of the calls are domestic disputes or substance abuse calls. And the communities are small enough that they know alot of the people that they have to deal with.

Its not just political stuff, many on here have an interest in Alaska, so any information is probably well taken.

jdmidwest,

I like Chief Greybear and alot of you on here. I typed my post so fast I made an error. It was Chris, Wooten and his wife hunting....not Todd. You also made me miss the Alaska State Fair. I lost quite a few quarters at the rat wheel there! I also gained a great deal of fat with all of the food.

My son (23) still lives in Anchorage and likes Palin. Most cops do not like her. I think it has a great deal to do with budget cuts.

Anyways....best of luck to all and hopefully the USA will recover or even thrive eventually.

Sorry about the typing error. I am going back to the Table Rock forum!

We actually spent the whole day there at the fair. I did not see the rat wheel, might have been worth the trip. We were looking for the 125 lb+ cabbages and only saw 50 pounders. The real competitors were not due in till the next week. We did eat good, lots of Halibut. I love halibut.

I thought we were on the Ozark Anglers Forum, covering most of the best waters in Mo. and Ark., not just interests in one lake.

I think the US will do just fine after the election hype is over and we have a couple of more years of normalcy.

I don't either, but I am sure they understood when I already answered this in an above post. Please stop, I am getting dizzy from all the spining.

Round and round he goes. When he'll stop, nobody knows.
