Members tgard27 Posted January 22, 2009 Members Posted January 22, 2009 You know, I can't see too many people here who really stayed on toppic throughout this whole post. This website is not here so that you guys can recite one liners about each others mom and the age of the person who disagrees with you. This is why we have the MDC, so that people who act like morons on this website don't call the shots for the state. If you are on this website, then $20 shouldn't be that big of a deal. If it is a big deal, then my suggestion is to contact your local state representative. And yes, there is a problem with the state telling people how to use their land, but in some situations it may not be safe to use a rifle to hunt. If anyone has that large of a problem with the MDC, than contact your local MDC chapters and express those concerns. But until then, stop acting like idiots and waisting electricity. Travis

Travis I just can't seem to stay away from this post. You are calling people who post on here "morons", and "idiots". Surely you can make a point without insulting people who have a right to post on here. As for MDC listening. They felt major backlash on this and obviously some stuff hurled at walls doesn't stick. Now I will leave it up to you to figure out what I reference, because it is exactly what they were trying to pass to the people. If this country keeps raising taxes, fees on the people and the people can't or won't pay it we will be deep into the same stuff. I couldn't be any happier that this crap went nowhere. I can provide you plenty of instances where sitting down and talking to these folks has gone absolutly nowhere.

bigredbirdfan Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Get started. First of all I will take no orders from you. I had about five seconds on my hand and wanted to entertain myself so here. Southern Waterfowl Zone dates over and over each year. Southern Waterfowl zone area over and over each year. Middle Waterfowl zone area over and over each year. Middle Watefowl Zone dates over and over each year. Oh and voicing opposition to the reintroduction of the river otter. You can read all about this wonderful decision. http://www.smallmouth.org/MissouriOtters.html
Chief Grey Bear Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Well, I just happen to know personaly one of the persons that yearly set the dates and limits on waterfoul for the state. I will promis you this, you don't have any idea what goes it to making those decisions. As for that biased dribble that you linked, that was written nearly 10 years ago. Maybe updated, unbiased opinons should be used. For someone that is wanting get the MDC to change regulations, I don't think I would have that on my website. But that is just me. jdmidwest Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 I feel better knowing someone who knows someone that had better know what he is talking about. Waterfowl zones are up for review every 5 years and public opinion meetings are held in each conservation district before the zone rules are set. Zones have changed several times in the past 20 years of my duck hunting. Limits and length of season is set by the FEDS, they do not give you any alternatives. If you want your voice heard, attend the meeting and stand up for your ideas. The MDC does listen to the people that pay their bills for the most part. Otters are one of the MDC's biggest screwups, but if you will visit their website, the trapper section, they are doing something to curb the problem. Otter trapping season has been extended in zones with high concentrations in order to curb the population. Unfortunately, due to the economy, Otters are not worth squat this year for furs so there is no incentive for trappers. As much as we hate the otters, they were here first, we killed them out, we could do it again if we try. Chief Grey Bear Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 You are right JD I should not have said state. I had state on the brain since we were talking about Mo regs and otters. The process is very lengthly with a great deal information gathered from many agencies from many meetings that take place throughout the flyways. It is much more indepth than holding a few meetings with waterfowl (nobody caught my misspelling of that in the other post) hunters that would like to shape the rules to favor them over the best set of regulations for all concerned. Who would have thought that a success story would be considered a screw up. Which they have acknowleged for years. I wonder why Hank Reifeus didn't write that in 1982 when the first otters were reintroduced? I wonder why he waited 17 years to share his expertise?
