Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted November 27, 2008 Author Root Admin Posted November 27, 2008 To be perfectly fair (and balanced), there has been and I'm sure is alot of heterosexual activity in the same locals, but the difference is this is a registered site for same-sex activity and it's reported that this activity has been more bold and "in your face" at times. I don't think parent would want their kids exposed to any sexual activity out in the open, much less the parents or individuals alone.

I don't think parent would want their kids exposed to any sexual activity out in the open, much less the parents or individuals alone. As retired law enforcement maybe I can make a few suggestions that would help. First of all, sexual activity of any type in public is illegal and if witnessed by law enforcement officials those involved can and should be charged. Contact your local prosecutor's office and express your concerns that local law enforcement is not doing enough to solve this problem. In the past I have been a part of 'sting' operations which involved either observing this activity, or being solicited for this activity. Either way it is a crime and generally results in a guilty plea and payment of a fine. Usually one sting operation is sufficient to take care of the problem. An important part of the sting is the publication of the person(s) names in the local papers. What these people fear most is EXPOSURE! If local law enforcement will not, or cannot do their job, there is one thing the regular fishermen can do that is usually almost as effective. When you observe the persons you suspect are 'cruising', write down their license number, a description of the car and of the person driving. Take it from me, most of these people are 'in the closet'. They are married with children, and many occupy respectable positions in the community. Seeing a person jotting down their license number will scare them away for a good long time. The solution to this is to get local law enforcement to conduct an investigation and make mass arrests, then publish the arrests in the local news. If they will not a letter writing and telephone campaign to local politicians will probably get results. Be persistent. Good luck.
mosouthpaw Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 I had no idea this was happening down there. Why do they feel they need to do this crap in public? does taney county have laws against it? and if not maybe its time to talk to the county commisioners to up the ante and pass stricter laws on this public behavior? What happened to no-tel motels? sheesh.... Soon druggies will be haning out and getting paid to put a piece of "fruit" on the dash and it will become a worse place. But maybe they will start to harass sportsman, which is illegal in MO. At least its illegal in MO to harass hunters, im sure fisherman fall into the same catergory.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted November 28, 2008 Author Root Admin Posted November 28, 2008 The area below the dam is closed at night, technically, except to fishermen. I think there's a time period but can't remember what it is. There are signs- if you're an angler and read them you'd think it's illegal to be down there even to fish but fishing is ok. Overnight parking is not. Doing anything else besides fishing- parking, hiking, partying, is not permitted. Branson police do patrol the area. This happens mainly during the day.
Bman Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Stevan, Thanks for the post. As recent as early Oct, I noticed a guy in a red GMC or Chev 1/2 ton pick up, balding dark hair, heavy set, glasses. Parking and looking for "action" Saw him repeatedly at the MDC ramp below TR Dam, and at the senic overlook by the Dam. I went to this overlook one day to take some pictures, observed this guy get out of his truck, walk into the woods past me and started to pleasure himself. Guess I missed a chance to get this dude busted, or at least scare the heck out of him. Hoping if myself or anyone elese see's this dude again, we will follow your advise. The only good line is a tight line
crappiefisherman Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Bman , maybe he was starin at you too....I told you not to wear those crothless waders down there [ [
zander Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Not to stereotype too much, but I can't help thinking that a lot of these guys are probably performers or dancers for the different shows in Branson although the one Bman described wouldn't fit the bill for that. It is sad to hear that, it is one of the things that I hate about Lake Springfield too. One of the previous posters said they feared "exposure", obviously not physically exposure. Thinking back to my crazy college days, I can't think of anything that would have freaked me and my girlfriends more than if someone caught us and was veeeeeeery vocal about it, you know make a big scene out of it we would have never left the dorm room. The natural thing to want to do is probably gag, then walk away. But I bet if we were to act like a bunch of crows on a hawk, things might change out there. My opinion.

As an actor/performer I must tell you that If you are going to make an extremely stereotypical statement like this one, at least call it what it is... An extremely stereotypical statement... I personally don't have a problem with your statement, just with your request for me to not see it as a stereotypical statement. I know lots of performers that are affeminite, but are heterosexual. There's a term for guys like us, it's called Metro... Just means we are a bit affeminite... I assume an affeminite Heterosexual is OK by you? But pertaining to the subject.... Here's a simple solution for getting rid of the nasty freaks (homo, hetero, or otherwise) here's what you do.. Get permission from the local law enforcement to post large signs that state: "THIS AREA IS SUSPECTED OF BEING FREQUENTED BY AN AX MURDERER" and then spend the next few weeks walking around in the woods in a trenchcoat with a big ax! Should solve the issue..... cricket.c21.com
zander Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 My apologies Cricket, I didn't realize you were an actor/performer. I thought you were a car salesman, maybe I'm wrong. I know that many actors/performers are straight. So are many dancers. There are also many who aren't straight, and the glitter, rhinestones, and showtunes of Branson are not exactly something that your typical straight guy would want to surround himself with on a daily basis. I know this because of how much my wife has me watch Bravo TV As far as the ax murderer idea, it would probably end up like a Rocky Horror Picture Show which would just cause things to get worse. So Cricket, no I don't have anything against metrosexuals. My knuckles don't drag the ground when I walk and I never lettered in football. I have friends that are gay, but none of them would go to a place like Taney and do those types of things. Bottom line is it is indecent, straight or gay, and we all agree on that.
