bigredbirdfan Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Why doesn't someone contact the local media (newspaper or KY3) and tell them this dirty little secret? Maybe some light on the subject would run some of these freaks off due to the attention or focus on the problem and they can ask the local law what they intend on doing about it. I would love to hear the nightly news with a report of: Imagine you and your family taking in some local secenary...you see some fruits with fruit on the dash...and next thing you know you walk up on... I am laughing now. But if my kids saw that crap I would hold their asses at camera point and call 911. Honestly the news media thing might be a viable option. Little media sting showing these actions.
Gary Lange Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 This was happening in the parks back in Illinois also! You could tell by someone backed into a parking spot and sitting in the car. That is one of the reasons I stopped backing into a parking spot when I went out fishing. I had forgotten about it until I read this thread and it all came back to me. Perhaps the Judge is one of the perpetrators. Respect your Environment and others right to use it!
Gary Lange Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Also I am so sick of hearing about Profiling of a Suspected Drug dealer or Profiling a Burglary Suspect or Profiling of any criminal element. To me it is a viable Law Enforcement tool. When our Elected Official took God out of our lives is when I feel a lot of this stuff started to surface. Of course then you even have Elected Official that are doing it all the time. Respect your Environment and others right to use it!
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted November 29, 2008 Author Root Admin Posted November 29, 2008 I don't want to start a big debate on same-sex issues because this is not the place- too impersonal. But I don't consider men or women who call themselves gay freaks at all. I believe no one is born gay. Yes some have more opposite-sex hormones but like the Phillip said, that doesn't make them "gay". It ALL centers around sex. Sex out of marriage. For believers who believe it's a "sin" and do it anyhow, it's called a stronghold in their life, just like smoking or drinking or another activity that can't be controlled- it's almost impossible to give it up without help. I have several friends who came out of the gay scene. It was extremely hard. I have compassion for these people because I know alot of them are hurting and don't know what else to do. They're looking for love and acceptance but these acts will never, ever fulfill what they are looking for. The empty hole just keeps getting bigger and bigger. So lay off the jokes and name calling cause all of us have issues... we just need to protect kids, young people and old people alike from being exposed to something like this.
FishinCricket Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 My apologies Cricket, I didn't realize you were an actor/performer. I thought you were a car salesman, maybe I'm wrong. I know that many actors/performers are straight. So are many dancers. There are also many who aren't straight, and the glitter, rhinestones, and showtunes of Branson are not exactly something that your typical straight guy would want to surround himself with on a daily basis. I know this because of how much my wife has me watch Bravo TV As far as the ax murderer idea, it would probably end up like a Rocky Horror Picture Show which would just cause things to get worse. So Cricket, no I don't have anything against metrosexuals. My knuckles don't drag the ground when I walk and I never lettered in football. I have friends that are gay, but none of them would go to a place like Taney and do those types of things. Bottom line is it is indecent, straight or gay, and we all agree on that. Yeah I went back and re read my post and realized it may have sounded a little snipety.. Sorry bout that.. I have been a performer, actor, singer, poet, lauriat, and scholar all of my natural born life.. Currently I earn my wage I auto sales.. You were correct. But because of the way I act (I would have no problem being center stage in one of those shows you refer to) I have been mistaken as many things.. And usually by the sickos that park in public places with fruit on their dashboard.. LOL I don't want you to think I assumed any of those typical masculine stereotypes about you.. Just have a few friends who perform in Branson, so it hit a little close to home.. However, phils post right above mine here gets us back on topic... And that topic is: Something needs to be done about the pervs at the parks.. Maybe setting up video surveilance? Seems logical and cost effective. We could have a fundraiser Phil!!! cricket.c21.com

Little media sting showing these actions. I dont think the media will touch a topic like this anymore. Anymore the media is after government and business owners.(in Kansas City anyway) I think the first thing that should be done is to light up the area by the boat ramp. I know alot of people on here have fished nights and it is very dark down there at night. I for one have fished down there at night before and after a few hours got tired and went up to take a nap. I did not know anything about this sort of thing in the area and will not make that mistake again(esp. now that Phill informed me that it is illegal to do so). Brian
Fishhand Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 When you observe the persons you suspect are 'cruising', write down their license number, a description of the car and of the person driving. Take it from me, most of these people are 'in the closet'. They are married with children, and many occupy respectable positions in the community. Seeing a person jotting down their license number will scare them away for a good long time. Well, I've been down at Taney cruising at night. It's typically on a Friday or Saturday night. I'm looking for a specific automobile and I'm not sure where they're parked. Cell phone reception sucks below the dam and I can't get hold of where they are parked. In order to find them, I've got to pull into some of the parking areas and pull around until I find their car. It may look like I'm cruising for dudes, but I'm not, I'm cruising around to find my friends automobile to see where they've walked down to fish. Suggesting that a private citizen should write down somebody's license plate number and description of their car is a bad idea. Gay guys have been going down there for years. Just like passing by the scenic outlook and seeing five cars with all of their windows steamed up. Who cares. Blueberry Hill or Gayberry Slough (just made that up, honest). Neither the homosexuals nor the heterosexuals are hurting anybody. However, if they're performing sex acts during the daytime then the perps should be punished by law enforcement. Then, maybe a private citizen should wait for them to come out of the woods (they'll be the ones skipping back to their cars) and see which vehicle is theirs'. Write down the vehicle description, license plate number, and report it to the authorities so next time the cops do their patrol they can look out for that specific vehicle. If bigbird wants to take a photo of them for his file, then that's his business....
taxidermist Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Put pressure on the judge!!! since many of you carry cameras, take pictures and go to the papers, send them to the PA and the judge, and go right up the ladder. Maybe a citizens group could be visible at night like neigborhood watch programs.
Members pinecone Posted November 29, 2008 Members Posted November 29, 2008 Phil, My wife and I fish Taney at least a couple of times a year and often fish down by the MDC ramp. It is seldom that we don't encounter the classic "car backed in with a nervous looking guy inside". At first I suspected a drug deal and was very uneasy. After a few times it dawned on me what was going on. One of the guys we observed was a well known figure in Branson entertainment. This is all pathetic! Many times we fish until dark and we will be the only other ones in the parking lot. I assume if you mind your own business there has never been any problems, however I stay observant and armed. Perfect place to be robbed. These are not fun times we live in, but I'm thankful most of the folks we have met on the river are decent and nice.
jdmidwest Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Why didn't you go up and ask for an autograph? Just don't shake his hand!! I notice you did not mention his name, is there some reason you want to keep him in the closet. I think he should be named and maybe his ticket sales will drop some. The only way to stop it is to expose the matter and let them know it is not a good place to hang out. If you keep it quiet and ignore it, they will have no reason to leave. Why not park in front of them with bright lights on and wait for them to leave. I don't think you would be breaking any laws.
