timsfly Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 I fished a few areas on the lower roaring river today, I fished the pryor crossing area first, didn't catch a fish, but seen a few, one nice brown, but no takers I then went up to the cemetary area, caught 3 up there and had a lot of fish on, but only landed the three, here are some pics. I took some river shots also. Fishing was good, saw the game warden, he waved as he drove past, he knows me so he didn't check me. Caught all my fish today on PMS type flies or on woolybuggers, purple and olive were my best colors today. fishinwrench Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 That's a pretty stretch of water, reminds me of the upper Current. What is the designation for the water outside the park there (red, white, blue) ? and how far downstream does the trout holding portion extend to? Wish it wasn't so far for me to drive to, but I'll get there eventually. Nice Bows too, thanks for the pics
timsfly Posted December 5, 2008 Author Posted December 5, 2008 Roaring River Trout Management Area, 4.5 miles of stream outside the park boundary,(to curry bridge) is open for fishing year-round. It is a white ribbon area. It is pretty good fishing right now, but as the water levels drop the holes become fewer and more walking is required, but it can be good all year long, the water is about normal right now. patfish Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Tim, as always, great report and thanks for the fish porn. I was just wondering, what is that under the fish's tail in the fourth pic? That is one strange leaf! Please tell me it isn't trash, and if it is, I'm sure you took it to a proper receptacle.
timsfly Posted December 5, 2008 Author Posted December 5, 2008 It was trash, and yes I picked it up, I pick up several pieces of trash everytime I fish, I don't think it was litter, it looked like something washed down from one of the floods. There are always bits of trash to pick up. Tim Homesley 23387 st. hwy 112 Cassville, Mo 65625 Roaring River State park Tim's Fly Shop www.missouritrout.com/timsflyshop
DD'sMC Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Tim, Great photos! Thanks for sharing! Does R&R have a river clean up weekend? We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. The two best times to go fishing? When it is raining and when it is not.
catman Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Tim, The area you fished, is it below this area? Passed the Private Cabin were the park ends? http://ozarkanglers.com/roaringriver/maps/7.pdf I was born at night, but not last night. Odds are with the prepared...
timsfly Posted December 5, 2008 Author Posted December 5, 2008 Yes a mile or so below the cabin. Tim Homesley 23387 st. hwy 112 Cassville, Mo 65625 Roaring River State park Tim's Fly Shop www.missouritrout.com/timsflyshop
