duckydoty Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Did a little fishing yesterday with my brother across from Monkey Island on the gravel bar there. The weather was cold, and cloudy but the fish were still very active. Spankin Spinach soft hackles and lime green cracklebacks were working the best. We both had several hookups in the couple of hours we fished and we both landed 4 each. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that we were fishing in the middle of our decoy spread and managed to get 3 mallards also. duckydoty A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Flysmallie Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 That's great Duane! So did the mallards hitting the water put the trout down?
duckydoty Posted December 18, 2008 Author Posted December 18, 2008 Only for a short time. The hard part was casting right between the decoys because that is where the fish kept rising. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted December 18, 2008 Root Admin Posted December 18, 2008 Guess they've been killing alot of ducks on the lower lake, I've heard.
Micheal Kyle Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Yes they have been killing a lot of ducks on the lower lake, I just got back from the doctor and he said I can go. I hope that there will be 12 ducks and 4 geese in the bottom of my boat when we leave on Friday. I have a little secret spot to go it should be a good day. DD'sMC Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 I'm afraid that if I tried to hunt and fish at the same time, I might get confused, and shoot a fish and/or hook a duck. We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. The two best times to go fishing? When it is raining and when it is not.
Micheal Kyle Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 I thought secrets were the trick, the lake is only 26 miles long cant be too may spots since you cant hunt up from KOA and from 65- Roark creek. that makes it only about 22 miles long. Great I bet you might figure out where the spot is now. My dad hooked a goose at night about 9-10 years ago, that was fun. It was a very foggy night and the goose just swam right over his muddler. I told dad there was an easier way to get a piece of jewelry. To Know People Is To Know Thier Ways!
Don Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Spankin Spinach soft hackles and lime green cracklebacks were working the best. Sounds like you are doing alot of what I most like to do at the bench; take materials/colors normally used for certain flies and use them for other flies/patterns that usually and traditionally do not call for those materials or colors. The only difference is that you are netting some fish lately. Good Luck Hunting.....Don Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
duckydoty Posted December 20, 2008 Author Posted December 20, 2008 You got it Don. They seem to be working really good. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
