Sooo, I was in Aunts Creek most of the day today. It ended up being halfway productive. First stop was a cove 1/2 way between pt 10 and the camp ground. I caught 3 jig fish and a couple spoon fish. The fish finder was lit up when sitting in 40-60' close to, and in the middle of the cove. I got a couple fish and decided to leave to go deeper back into Aunts to check it out. Once you get to the no wake area, the water was pretty stained / muddy from the inflow of water. Saw lots on the graph but didn't get any hits.

Went back to my original spot and caught a couple more jig fish, headed in for lunch and to pick up my daughters.

Afternoon was pretty quiet except for 3 jig fish. My daughters nor I could get the spoon going this afternoon. Of my jig fish, the 1st was a really, really solid fish that got wrapped up in the cedars..unfortunately lost him at the boat. The last fish was the best...4.8lb LM (pic attached). All the jig fish were caught in 25-30' of water, PBJ jig with a craw trailer. 49 deg water. I'm gonna make a run tomorrow am and see what other creek arms hold.

My report from this weekend is fair. Friday was my most productive day with with 12 bass, with my 5 best pushing 18 plus pounds. I headed back to Aunts creek and the same dock that hangs over the river channel. Jigging a spoon yielded a 6 and 5 pound larger mouth out of a bush located just outside of the dock in 40' of water.

After that bite went dead I headed out to the center of the creek and started following shad balls picking up some fat kentucky's. I didn't get the quantities I had picked up last week, but the quality was there on friday. 18 plus pounds is a good tournament weight for this time of year.

I had the pleasure of meeting Cajunangler and his father, thank you for introducing yourself. It's always nice to meet fellow anglers on the water. From reading your report Cajun you did very well. I bet using a spoon this time of year will be part of your tackle from now on.

Went out Sunday and was humbled with only one bass swimming a grub. Talk about lock jaw, those fish just didn't want to bite for me. I worked and stayed in Aunts creek all day. I just couldn't leave the creek due to the shear numbers of fish and bait balls I was graphing. I figured it would only be a matter of time before they would turn on, but it didn't happen.

The good news is the majority of fish are still holding 3/4 of the way back in the creek, so many more days of good fishing are on the horizon as the fish make their way out to the secondary points and mouth of Aunts.

How do I deal with those who ignore the 50 yard encroachment rule?......I show them just how accurate I am with a crank bait! rtj4bb.gif

Beck had a guide trip on Friday, and Chris Tetrick was out prefishing for one. Both of these boys knocked them out. Chiris fished the dam area and had a very nice stickbait and wiggle wart bite with fish to 4 pounds coming right off the bank. He also had I believe 6 nice keeper K's deep in a spoon.

ON his saturday guide trip, before the rain he had several very nice keepers on the wart prior to the rain in the couple of hours he fished.

Bill had about 50 spoon fish on Friday, with over 30 keepers. Although he fished 6 or 8 locations, his fish came only off two locations, and they were very deep. Not at liberty to give the exact depth, but they came off the bottom between 60 and 100 feet. He said they were just stacked on these two locations, and he was very lucky to have seen one peek up its head.

The action was fast and furious, and he said he and his clients trippled at least 10 times. The fish were just buzzing the spoons. 1/2 oz white.

Going to try and get out this week, as it is going to be really nice.

Guided Taneycomo on Saturday with Buster and the jig fishing was off the chart in the restricted area. Lots of trout in the over 2 pound range on jigs.

I was hoping someone would post a report after being out when we had these warmer temps.

My father went through a similar ordeal a couple years ago, and it took him much longer to get back on the mend. But things are closer to normal now. So I can relate. ;)

Thanks, motoman. Don't tell anyone, but I had to restrain myself some so as not to beat Champ188 my first day back. Yeah, right. Thanks to him, I got out. I wasn't sure I was ready, but you're right, fishing is therapeutic. Glad to hear your dad is doing better. My surgery was done laproscopically which cuts down on the recovery time. I was thankful that was an option.

Take care.
