Went to lake 28 today from 7am til about noon. Hammered them! All fish on the egg. Mostly stockers. Good luck if you go.

How blown out is the lake from yesterday's storm? Good job catching trout on a fly if the water is as muddy and cold as I would expect.

Water was up a tad and a little off color - by no means muddy. I probably caught and released close to 50. My buddy Sherwood even caught a brown. Not a huge brown, but a brown nonetheless. Only real bummer was fighting the wind. But, that is the norm at BWL.

Sounds good. I might have to get out and do some catch and release. Fifty trout is a lot.

What color egg did you use? I have thrown them out there before and havent had much luck.

Egg tied on a jig or just a hook with some split shot?

Thanks :D

Thanks for the report Pat.

You say "Mostly stockers." I live out here in St. Charles and go to Busch a lot. Is there anything but stockers in the lakes? I've heard "tails" of big fish, but never saw a pic, or better yet the fish, to prove it.

BT22, I used eggs with jig heads. The 3-color Bennett Springs Specials(yellow, orange and purple), and chartreuse with a red dot, both extremely effective. After all, I think the trout think they are still in the hatchery.

SIO, by "mostly stockers", I meant most were the 8-12" ers with an occasional 15-16" er, or as I like to call them, the BWL trophy trout. <see attached>

I have heard the Urban trout Legends myself and have yet to see one. Talked to one guy on Sunday who had witnessed one the day before, but that's just hearsay.

I don't go back to work until the 5th so if you're heading out to BWL anytime gimme a PM or email me SIO, after all, you "owe" me. ;) Just messin....

Time for a NYE beer....

I'm pickin up what you're layin down. I smell what you're steppin in. Is that a BWL trout from this year or last? Last year the overall size was much bigger than this years. More than a few years ago they stocked all browns and they were very good size trout for urban fishing.

I never had one chance to use that line since I got it. It's not jinxed or something is it? In fact since I got it, we've had record flooding and I couldn't get away to fish like I normally do. You're not a cajun are you? I went through the voodoo shop in the quarter and they got some serious stuff in there.

I'll see what's up the next few days and try to make it over there with you.

SIO , "I know you're insane"<translation - I know what you're saying>that is a trout from an early November trip this year. That was an easy 100 fish day for me and my buddy(each, not total), all on cracklebacks. This year is the first I've even heard/seen of a brown.

The line isn't jinxed, must be some bad mojo tween you and the weather gods. Apparently you cursed us all in '08. :D

I'll be lookin for the invite brother.

HYN!!!
