Buzz
Thanks for the pics Jeremy. I can see that working well. I can also see why Tim doesn't like to lose them. Hey Buzz, there's a fairly reliable formula to judge the weight of a trout....Length X Girth X Girth / 800....I've written it on my fly box so I can remember it....so if your fish was 22" and say had a 12" girth that's 22 X 12 X 12 = 3168....3168 / 800 = 3.96 lbs. Good catch! Thanks fishhand. I never can remember the formula. I think I'll do the same and write it on my fly box. Also I need to get one of those fabric tape measures like mom used to keep around the house. Until then I'll just tell everyone he weighed 7 lbs. They always believe me anyway right? If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
Flysmallie
Tiff and I didn't do to well, but that was mostly my fault. For some reason I thought I was going to be able to fish too! Should have just taken one rod and concentrated on helping her. When she wasn't all tangled up she was dragging my reels along on the concrete. Good thing I have never cared too much about the appearance of my reels. Anyway we caught a couple on a scud, two or three on a soft hackle and one on a wooly. Had a real nice fish that made a move on a SJ worm and I yanked it out of it's mouth. I wish Tiff would have had the chance to try and land that one. Nice seeing you Duane. Maybe if I bribe you with a steak you could show me how to tie one of those T&As. Also ran into Steve Smith, imagine that. That prompted Tiff to accuse me of knowing everyone at RR that day. Yep, 2 out of a hundred and I know everybody. Sorry I didn't get to meet you mrbuzib1, keep a look out though I will be back soon.
DD'sMC
Very nice fish! Looks like I missed out on quite a great day of fishing on RR. We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. The two best times to go fishing? When it is raining and when it is not. MrsDucky
I have seen those "bumper stickers" from the state, I believe, that have a measuring tape on one side and the formulas for trout and bass on them...there are several stuck to the Empire Access fishing dock, or at least there were in 2007. (I really didn't get out much in 2008, which stinks, but new year, new rules!) Let me check and see if I can find out where to get them...If I don't respond again, it means I didn't find them! It was a gorgeous fish, and I believe 7 lbs! But then again, I fish too. http://mdc4.mdc.mo.gov/Documents/227.pdf This is the best I can do. There is a "stick on 18 inch ruler" listed under Fish/Fishing, but I can't find anywhere to see exactly what it looks like! It says you have to print it out and then mail it in...At least it saves you raiding your mom's old sewing kit! I can bring home the trout...fry it up in a pan...and never let you forget I caught it! 'Cause I'm a woman!
