Members Logperch Posted January 3, 2009 Members Posted January 3, 2009 Have tomorrow off and was thinking about heading up to LOZ in search of some crappie but have heard rumors that the lake is high and off color with quite a bit of debris in it. Was planning on putting in at Shawnee Bend. Just wondering if the lake is indeed high and muddy or if some other areas of the lake maybe a better option.
fishinwrench Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Lake level is 657.5 as of Friday, with low or no generation expected through the weekend. Not high and muddy at all, Shawnee bend area water condition is good. Tear'em up ! The number for the Bagnell dam lake level recording is 573-365-9205 (for future use).
Members Logperch Posted January 3, 2009 Author Members Posted January 3, 2009 Thanks for the info, definately going to head up that way and give it a shot
CMAC Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I believe the lake is on a somewhat slow rise, seems like there is some water coming down from Truman? Big water temperature switch from PB2 to the dam. I believe on Saturday water was 39 @ PB2 and 45 at the dam. I would fish for crappie, bass seem a little tough now, unless some one else has got something going?

They've been banned in tournaments because of their deadliness.
Champ188 Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 For Pete's sake Ealy, get rid of those helicopter lures. Two words for ya pal: Banjo Minnow. They're irresistible and have universal appeal to every species that swims. I even had a follow from a blue marlin once while casting for peacocks near Hurricane Deck. I used Flying Lures for years but donated them all to charity. Last I heard, the Ethiopians were catching so many fish on them that obesity has replaced famine as their biggest health problem.
CMAC Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Ealy: That is remarkable, but for me it has been the slow sink double rattle jointed thunder stick!!! That thing works and it has not been black flagged yet!! Check it out, I belive they are special order from BP.

Champ, it's a little known fact that by tying on 2 banjo minnows they often fight each other to the death. This is very much like putting 2 betas in a fishbowl together. This effect is known as "dueling banjos".
