jdmidwest Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 The main thing is more money out of my pocket for something I love doing. . More big brother, more stupid laws that they don't need, more taxes, more regulations, and more wasted time. There are plenty of laws and regulations to cover any crime committed in this day and time. People will kill people, it has happened since the beginning of time and it was done with a rock. Do we serial number rocks? They will keep trying to get it passed, they will sneak it in on something, probably on a bill prohibiting the tossing of beads at a girl on the river...... jdmidwest Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Since we are on the subject of ammo why is it that a person cann't buy beanbag loads for a shotgun or any other "nonleatheal" ammo. Beanbags are for a special gun, not a standard shotgun. You can buy non lethal loads. You can buy rubber bullets that are powered by a primer alone for indoor practice in handguns and shotshells with plastic or rubber pellets for animal control. If you are going to shoot a human that is giving you a reason for a justifiable shooting, you had better use a lethal method or you will just make him mad and end up causing yourself more grief. Pulling a firearm on a person and pointing it at them means you are willing to kill them and you are making that decision to do so. You should not ever have to use a firearm to scare someone off or wound them, you shoot to kill and make sure you are doing so for a justifiable reason, IE, they intend to do you or your family grave harm. Cops use tasers, bean bags, and pepper spray to control someone without getting hurt themselves while performing their everyday job of dealing with jerks. They used to use nightsticks, but they are not politically correct any longer. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
duckydoty Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 We have access to the bean bag loads in Alaska for use on bears. It is my understanding that they do not work very well and are much better suited for such things as little lap dogs. I dont think I would use them to try a deter a person. If I got into a situation where I felt I needed a weapon to protect myself, I would really rather have some hot lead to rely on. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! denjac Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 my take on this is a crook probably only uses or shoots 1-2 bullets a year. A sportsman might shoot or buy 300- 500 rounds per year and different kinds, such as 22, 30/30, 12 gauge ect. Are the high usage users going to be watched more than low usage users. jdmidwest Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 my take on this is a crook probably only uses or shoots 1-2 bullets a year. Also, probably using a gun and ammo he stole from a law abiding citizen in the process. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. flyfshn Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Boy, sounds like this could solve/lower the crime rates!!! Great idea! The good guys would continue to register their guns and ammo (now) and the slugs will continue to buy/steal theirs on the streets!!! Research the crime rates in Singapore.......0! Yes, very few crimes because they cane you if you break the law!!! We have laws, but they are not strict enough.....most of the criminals go to jail and have a better life than they did on the outside.....3 meals a day, heat/air conditioning, shelter, a job, cable tv, etc!!! What a joke! When are they going to get to the root cause? Fish On! Mike Utt “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery. soggyfeet Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 I agree flyfishn but the problem is al the protesters out there. Just look at the resent problems in Isreal. All you see on the news is the world supporting the terriost. People these days are so against government they think they(the government) is out to get them. Most governments only want one thing votes and they will what they need to to get them. If that means going soft on criminals to get votes thats what they are going to do. Brian
trout fanatic Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 This is nothing more than a left wing ploy. Rifled barrels already leave a signature on each bullett fired through it. The lands and grooves of a barrel are etched into a bullet as it passes through and can be traced back to a specific firearm. Anyone who thinks this legislation is actually to aid in the solving crimes (as opposed to gun control-which in my view is the real issue) is only fooling themselves.
soggyfeet Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Ok my quetion is what is the problem with the government knowing who owns which guns. Personally I dont have a problem they allready know about one of the guns I own beacuse they had to give it back to me after it was stolen. Brian
