Gavin Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Thanks Ham, didnt try a black buzzbait that at all that day, but I'll try one next time I'm out during a summer downpour...It was overcast and spitting a bit when I put on, and a white buzzer was very, very good to me in the AM...Then it rained buckets for 15 minutes. I spent that time off the water because of lightning. After that it turned out to be an 80 degree, blue bird day...Fishing went to heck after that maybe 3-4 fish per hour between floating and wading but it was still fun... Cheers.
BadKarma Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Would that boat and that seat design be okay for a really big guy? I'm 6'4" and about 275. Also, how hard is it to say change the seats from a tandem to a solo? I can't really afford a "new" canoe, but I know where there are a couple that have been ignored for sometime. Don't worry about life, your not going to survive it anyway. Go fishing instead.
Gavin Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Replacing a seat isnt a big deal, but its not something you want to do all the time. If want to improve the seating in one of your existing boats, I'd go with some flat canoe seats (either cane or web) and a removable seat back like a Sit Backer.Sit backers are very comfortable and they snap in an out in seconds. Cheers.
Wayne SW/MO Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 If you use a Sit Backer like Gavin suggested, you could build a seat. It might not be comfortable to sit on without a cushion, but it would work fine. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

It might not be comfortable to sit on without a cushion, but it would work fine. I have been thinking about doing this. I love my Sit Backer but it doesn't work very well with the molded seats in my canoe. They look just like the ones in the boat siusaluki has. First problem is they aren't very good for a big guy. Second, they don't work very well for a tandem canoe that you want to reverse when using it solo. Anybody have any thoughts on how to make these seats?
Gavin Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Replace the molded seats with a replacement seat...use the old seat as template for the holes on the new replacement. Not a big deal to make your own, but replacements are relatively inexpensive. See below. Cheers. http://www.boundarywaterscatalog.com/browse.cfm/2,131.html
