back2roots Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Sorry to hear about the damage Phil!! STAY SAFE!! We still have power here and just light flurries this morning. Have seen just one guy walking down our road this morning. No one has even tried to drive out here in two days. That's the problem with working from home....if I have power and Internet.....I'm working. Blessings to All!!!! Bill If you liked the sound....Thank the engineer!
DOITLOOKIT Posted January 28, 2009 Author Posted January 28, 2009 Holly Smacks!!!!! It's nice to have good neighbors. My neighbor's tree came crashing down on our shared private fence. Knowing that the insurance would say it was an "Act of God" he volunteered to pay for the fence repair if I would him cut up the tree. Will break out the chain saws and start a weekend project. Hope every is safe and did'nt sustain much damage. Sorry Phil about the dock. Hope insurance company will help!!!
Zack Hoyt Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Made the Pilgrimage from Pea Ridge to Bentonville and all over Rogers this morning. Looks like a war zone. Trees down all over. On a positive note......if you want an unstoppable car, buy a subaru. I never spun a tire once. Had to go around two pickups and half dozen cars who were spinning going up hills. Wayne SW/MO Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I've been away, so I can't comment on my area, but I'm not really that confident. when Ike came through I had to walk to the house, I hope that doesn't happen again. White River has been very aggressive in my area trimming back trees, it can't hurt. Some might find this helpful: Link= Electric coops Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
hoglaw Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 As I'm sure you've all heard, it's a disaster here in Fayetteville. I stood on my porch two nights ago and it was surreal. Five seconds didn't go by without the crack of a huge limb and a crash to the ground. Every tree on my property has either been uprooted, split in half, or had the top fall out. I had to saw for a couple of hours yesterday to get the driveway clear. I'm without power and water until Saturday at the earliest. Came into the office today and got some work done, but all of Fayetteville is a mess. Old Main lawn (where I'm getting married in May) looks like a war zone. I missed the 2000 storm because I was in Canada, but this is the worst damage from winter weather I've ever seen. I really feel bad for those stuck in rural madison and carroll counties. I imagine some people had to do some hiking. It's all melting now, and limbs are still falling. The only tree on my property that seems unphased is a 30ft. fir (I think it's fir) right in my front yard. I never liked it, but my fiancee thinks it looks like a giant christmas tree. At least she got to keep it. Everything else is trashed. Unbelievable.
Quillback Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Got home early this AM from a business trip to Charleston SC. Left Atlanta at 10 PM, the plane got to NW AR about 11 PM and could not land because of Fog/ice, so we circled for a while and then went on to Tulsa. When we got to Tulsa they put us on a bus and we made it to NW AR at 0230 AM. My vehicle had been sitting at the airport. probably had about 3 inches of ice on it, so I had fun knocking all that off. Finally got home about 0330. Lots of dark areas out there with no power. Lots of limbs/trees down. Definitely a lot more ice in the area south of the airport and in the Springdale area than there is here in Bella Vista.
