Hold up, hold up..

Am I reading you wrong, or did you just say there are certain waters that I have to leave the full tackle box (chock full of treble hooks, powerbait, and spoons as well as flies and such) in the car? Seriously?

For real?

I'm pretty sure that's the rules. I agree it's not really fair, but I believe you are not supposed to have any bait that is illegal for an area in your possession. But I could be wrong.

Yep, saw them do a body cavity search on a guy just the other day.... It got messy. You won't be seeing ME at Lil'Piney anymore

As for the tackle box full of catfishing bait and powerbait and double treble hook poppers (right next to my trout fishing gear):

I have had three different agents look over my boat and gear on seperate occasions on the niangua and in BSSP and only the first one made any comment regarding all my other fishing supplies, and he wouldn't have mentioned it but I (dumbly) blurted out "I don't use these in this section of the park of course" while showing him my tackle. His response:

"Cricket, it ain't illegal to own it, just don't be tying it onto your pole, or your waders for that matter!"

Walt Hutton is actually a pretty friendly guy as long as you ain't breaking the rules...

The other two instances were on the river, and I am not sure of any forbidden baits there..

Really curious as to the regs though.. For instance:

I fish the Elvcen Point/Greer Spring area, so am I not allowed to bring my full tackle box? What if I am floating all the way to Riverton? Am I supposed to find a place to hide my other tackle at turner mill?

CC,

I have been checking the regs pertaining to possession or non possession of restricted baits and lures in designated trophy areas. Nothing that I have found so far says that you cannot have them in your possession. What it says is that you cannot use them. Taney's regs even say you "can" transport bait into the trophy area by "boat". Does not mention wading, but I found it odd to even mention that in the regs. The regs even say that you cannot possess fish that fall in the slot limit, but nothing about not possessing illegal bait or lures. The signs at Bssp and other parks tell you what to use and not use, but say nothing about possessing them while in those zones. I have flies that are legal in zone 3, but I do not remove them from my vest when I cross the whistle bridge. I'm guessing what that agent told you is the law without question.

Now that I look at the regs, I believe you guys are right.
