Trav Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Ham, We are also entertaining a day or two at Sam Rayburn. Heard any news? "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
Flysmallie Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Good luck Trav. I'll be interested in hearing your report. I haven't fished Toledo Bend or Sam Rayburn, but I've always wanted to. I've done the Fork thing a bunch and Falcon a couple of times. Falcon would be hard for me to pass up right now, but it is a drive. But it's nice to get out of the Ozarks and fish other areas. I'm headed to Falcon this fall with my dad and probably some buddies. We might even head over into Mexico and hit one of the hot lakes over there. That's what so great about that area, you have a several other options if you can't get bit on one lake.
Ham Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 We fished Rayburn a few times mixed in with the Toledo Bend trips. We hit it right about the time the LMB virus was at its worst so I have a bad impression of the lake. We found that we could catch more bass at TB with less trailering and less risk of getting our boat sunk by the main lake waves. I feel like Raybirn has bounced back, BUT I just like Toledo Bend better. Looking at the Classic and how that is fishing. You'll have pre-spawners , spawners, and some post spawn fish. I would not go to TB without Senkos, Sluggo type baits, lizards, spinnerbaits, an assortment of top water baits, traps, and some finesse worms. FWIW Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. Trav Posted February 22, 2009 Author Posted February 22, 2009 Ham, Thanks for the feedback on Sam Rayburn. I think you have a point if our windy luck maintains it's trend. Will be more back water on Toledo Bend if it gets bad. Any colors to go with those lure selections? "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
