So I'm gonna have a weekend in mid-April that a friend and I can take off on Friday and go anywhere we like in MO to fish for white bass. Going to school in Rolla, and I'm not opposed to driving 3 hrs for good fishing. As the title says, we'd be bank fishing (and/or wading) with spinning tackle, but I want to try my fly rod for them. Any ideas on where to go?

Just go to Springfield and follow the red Chevy pickup with all the stickers on it and "Backcountry Outfitters" in the back window... Probably be a drift boat behind it...

Just sneak in the back of the boat... He'll never see you...

Don't tell him I said so, tho... B)

Terry does have a good plan.

Just keep your options open and keep watching the forum. You never know where the best area is going to be.

And by having the whole weekend you will probably be able to hit several different spots if you have to.

Thanks for the advice. I'll just stay glued to the forums for the next couple months and see what happens....

There are places in Bear Creek/Bull Shoals close to Tucker in Ark. but you have to find your way down to the water. Locals know the backroads... take a GPS so you know where to go next time.

We fished Bear this am and the guys on the bank caught more than we did- which wasn't many. They were there just not biting.

You can gain access to Beaver Creek at the bridge where Hwy 160 crosses it. You also can gain access to lots of places on the James River. Flat Creek at the mouth of Dry Creek is accessible also.

I have caught whites at all of those places but you never know which night they will be there.
