Walleyedmike Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 where have you seen these at?? Cabela's and Bass Pro should both have some left. WM
mclothier1 Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Ill be looking for one here soon since I didnt get it done last year. Im still leaning towards the Lowrance X135, seems to be no frills, high power. Which should show dropshot right? Price wise are there any others that I should also be looking at?

dtrs5kprs Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Just looked at BPS on-line...X135 is about $30 more than the color 510 on clearance. Both should do fine on the deep fish, at least as well as my old X15 which will draw the swivel, worm, and weight on a drop shot. Know which one I would buy...my next graph will 100% be a color unit for the contrast when viewing the screen.
mclothier1 Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 I looked at the 510 at BPS, and yes that seems to be a good deal. I also checked Cabelas and they have it for $349 for the transom mount, but $499 for the trolling motor version. WOW I had no idea that the trolling mtr x-ducer would cost so much more! I always assumed that for a front deck finder, the transducer would be best placed in the front... like on a trolling motor. Has anyone tried a transom x-ducer with the front deck finder? and does it effect your fishing? I seem to get the x-ducer cable pinched in the trolling motor at times, so a transom mount would be a plus for me since it will be out of the way so I cant mangle it. My main concern was being able to see a drop shot, the X135 is 4000 watts compared to the 510 at 2400 watt.
Members adamarnold Posted March 30, 2009 Author Members Posted March 30, 2009 i ended up with the humminbird 585c, just got it installed last week and havent had a chance to get out yet. im anxious to get down to table rock with my family on the 16th. it sounds like everyone is doing pretty good right now.
Whack'emGood Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 I wonder why they would be charging so much more for one with a trolling motor mount transducer? I don't know about Lowrance, but my Humminbird came with the standard transom mount transducer and I exchanged it for a trolling motor (puck) transducer. Humminbird exchanged it for free... all I had to do was ship it to them. Whack'em P.S. Adamarnold-- I have the 585c and I really like it... I think you will too. S&M Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Post deleted for the betterment of the members. As well as my membership on this website. How do I deal with those who ignore the 50 yard encroachment rule?......I show them just how accurate I am with a crank bait!

I much prefer to have the Skimmer transducer mounted on my trolling motor, so I can adjust the angle a little for the best performance. If you are pinching the cable you don't have the cable routed properly or you have to much slack in it somewhere.
dtrs5kprs Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Worst case, there are brackets that will adapt a transom mount to TM use. Used one for years on my first X15 until it had a bad moment with a rock. Thanks for the info on temps and sonar...had not considered the density of the water as an issue before.
