Fishrman Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Fished from 6:00 to 2:00. Was fortunate enough to be there early, when I left the parking lot at Viola was absolutely jammed. Crappie fished most of the day. Ended up with only 6 keepers, several shorts and caught them in various locations. Shallow, deep, pockets, coves, channel swings etc. Did do a little bass fishing, had 4 keepers, all flipping an eakins and luck e strike jig. Caught several shorts on the jig also. Did throw a spinnerbait a little with minimal success, jerkbait caught a few as well. Did see several of the FLW guys up the River, Ron Shuffield, David Fritts and Joe Thomas. Well that is it for now. Good luck.
Hunter91 Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 We got to Viola about 930 this morning and had a hard time finding a place to park the trailer. We tried crappie fishing and only caught a white bass and kentuckies. So we went back to bass fishing and between the three of us caught around 50 on cranks and jigs. Only had 5 keepers though with the largest being a 17 in smallmouth. Had a ton of fun catching fish though
Bill Babler Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Hunter, 50 bass is an absolutely increadable day, especially starting at after 9:30 and then going crappie and white bass fishing before starting after the bass. You guys had to have had a great time. Congrats on probably the best day of anyone on the lake. Appreciate the report. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Members Doug Weston Posted March 9, 2009 Members Posted March 9, 2009 went to the Knob today. Got to meet Mr Bill and Chris Tetrick, both gentlemen. I only caught 2, both on a wart, at a channel swing transition, but on the flat just past the transition. Caught them up Kings river a little ways. I helped Carl Svebeck (I hope I spelled it right) launch his rig as I was coming home. He has this crazy lid/top thingy for a boat cover. It just lifts up and it completely covers the boat. Personally I think it would be a pain in the a*& but it has lights iin there and he said its neat because he can rig and stuff in the rain and not get wet. It keeps the road grime and stuff out of the boat, and its something else the advertisers can wrap. I guess if you put a boat cover on your boat, you cover up the wrap. I seen the FLW guys everywhere I went. They are leaving no stone unturned. I did catch a crawdad today. The little bugger was hanging on with one of his pincers. He was completely brown, even on the underside. I have actually hooked one before, but this one was just hanging on. I thought I was going to tear off his pincer when I was trying to pull him off... Weather looks bad, Have to fullfil family duties and go to St. Louis this weekend and drink green beer (wife is Irish). A mans gotta do what a mans gotta do. Maybe we can hook up the next week.
