jdmidwest Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Been a great year so far for gardening. Came home from the Gunshop on Valentines Day, traditional day to plant a lettuce bed, and planted some lettuce. It came up last week. Dug up my Horseradish and replanted it last Monday before the last rain. Upper garden was dry enough to till so I did and planted some more lettuce. Today, main garden was dried out enough to till. Tilled everything under to let it rot. St. Patrick's Day is the traditional day to plant peas and taters. Worked up a section and planted some peas, early yellow squash, and a little sweet corn. Any one else underway with the garden yet? "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
brownieman Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 I got stuff poppin up everywhere...all i have room for is 1 small raised bed but have lots of plants and mainly native wildflowers. Have a water garden I made a few years back...kids love it and I like the sound of the water. Always try to put native fish in the little pond every year...not as trendy as Coy Carp...oh well, lol. I've been working a little on the yard in general...gotta be my favorite time of year. Wish I had a big spot for a garden...especially with the ever rising food prices. My friends say I'm a douche bag ?? Avatar...mister brownie bm <><
Quillback Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 I put out some broccoli plants a week and a half ago, they have made it through the cold and now the warm weather. I'll wait until April to put out tomatoes, beans and squash.
Dutch Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 I have some stuff coming up in my cold crop section. I have new strawberries to plant and some other cold crops. I put in my order for both plantings of tomatoes yesterday.
ekl-stl Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 I am starting a new garden as we moved into the new house late last summer. I have some plastic down now in an effort to kill the grass and plan to get it tilled this weekend. So I am a little behind for the lettuce and spinich but it will be in shortly.
