Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 21, 2009 Root Admin Posted March 21, 2009 Anyone use this service? Just curious how it could help our fishing.
BredMan Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 I looked at it but didn't become a member. Just another of the many so-called "social/interacting networking"websites. I can't believe the benefits would be any greater than those provided by this simple forum. If you're "driving a PC" it's just going to be more windshield time! My opinion........
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 21, 2009 Author Root Admin Posted March 21, 2009 The only benefit I see is getting info out quick. Say, if there was a network of anglers who "followed" each other, you could "twitter" a fishing report as you were actually fishing from a cell phone. I think you can do this from a regular cell phone... I know you can from a Blackberry although I don't know how to yet. You can also receive them on your phone too- I think. Anyone know?
jscheetz Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Yep Phil you are right - I have a lot of friends who are touring and sign up their fans to their "twitter" accouts - then these "twits" Can be sent out to all of thier phones - It can give someone a play by play of what that band is doing that day - I guess it is almost like being there with them - Hard for me to imagine anyone would want to know what I am doing on the hour but.... I have a couple of friends that follow others twitter reports and they claim it is like a soap opera...... so...... there ya go. And yes - you could be standing knee deep in a creek with the bite full on and send out a message that would go to everyone who signed up - you could give an every hour account - - "Just caught two on a black zebra midge" ...... "Now the caddis hatch is starting"...... But usually when I am somewhere and the fish are biting real good..... I don't like to tell anyone until later. I could see where it would be good for a bunch of guides that were working together - sort of be able to send out a message to all others telling them that the wind isn't blowing as hard at such and such end of the lake etc - - It is basically like texting everyone on your message list. Members Terrapin Station Posted March 23, 2009 Members Posted March 23, 2009 I'm a member but I don't post updates. I do follow people and companies I'm interested in. Phil, from your standpoint, I think it would be a valuable marketing tool (or any guides for that matter). Everyone on this board would probably follow you whether it's a report from Taney or Alaska. I think it would be pretty cool to hear you had just landed a monster King and there was a grizzly 100 yards away in real time!
ness Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Nobody gives a rip what I'm up to. (sniffle) Seriously, I can see its usefulness in some situations. It's certainly the 'hot topic' lately - I heard 4 different stories in the media today that referred to it - like it's something new. I'm too 'connected' as it is. Everyone will just have to wonder. Zack Hoyt Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 I setup an account under ArkFishingAdv. I will be posting fishing reports, hot spots, general info, and useful tackle. Would love to have a few more outfitters/guides join up and do the same. I think this could come in real handy. Especially since you can talk directly between two people.
