jdmidwest Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 It was just one theory. Could be a liability issue. Most lakes post no boats, no swimming. Who knows, more rules and regulations, no enforcement of existing ones that have a real impact on the game. It may just be urban lakes. I know the city lake managed by the MDC in Jackson has a no boat, no swim policy. Maybe someone skirted it with the float tube, half boat, half swimming. jdmidwest Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 That would be a very low percentage of the people that should have gotten tickets and lost licenses if all would have gotten caught. They catch a few, but many get by. Fishing violations are the most frequent ones I witness and most on here complain about. Members crappie crippler Posted March 26, 2009 Author Members Posted March 26, 2009 JD I somewhat agree with you there. There are many, many folks that break hunting and fishing laws. I work in the same building as a few of them. How many people fish/hunt in Missouri? How many game wardens are there? The same could be said for people that run red lights, or drive 90 MPH on the highway. How many people drive in Missouri? How many policemen are there? Everyone who breaks the law is not going to be caught. Plain and simple. There are not enough enforcement officers to be everywhere all of the time. I think with the resources MDC has, they do an outstanding job. Always room for improvement, but improvement costs money and that is not easy to come by these days. DANG...... I was just looking for someone to fish with. Already opened the can of worms, so let's go! I LOVE THE SMELL OF FRESH GOGGLE EYE IN THE MORNING!
Chief Grey Bear Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 Do you think that is a years worth of violations? I am researching for some information and when and if I can find it I will post it. But of course I already know what your response will be. You must be proud of yourself to view all of those violations and never pick up the phone. Silence is acceptence. So I wouldn't complain too much. I was just looking for someone to fish with. Already opened the can of worms, so let's go! Everytime enforcement comes up, everyone thinks we have enough agents. Yet you see and hear many complaints about habitual violations. The poachers steal from us, game belongs to everyone in the state, laws are in place to regulate it. Agents seem to concentrate on deer and turkeys, but fishing violations happen all of the time. There are more streams in MO than can be covered by the limited number of agents. Most county's have only one agent at best, alot of territory to cover. Most remote locations lack cell phone service, so calling in a violation in action is hard to do. I have and do report violations every year while on the stream. Most have been investigated, few have ever amounted to anything. I do know of a few confirmed catches, one at Montauk and another on Norfork Tailwaters. The local agents just happened to be close at the time of the report, not 60 miles away on the other side of the county or out of town on a meeting. Chief Grey Bear Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 I guess we should also stick an officer in every isle in every store to stop shoplifting? I agree with you though. It is much easier to complain and make excuses than it is to take action. Members crappie crippler Posted March 27, 2009 Author Members Posted March 27, 2009 So, only a couple of float tubers use this forum?? I LOVE THE SMELL OF FRESH GOGGLE EYE IN THE MORNING!
Flysmallie Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 So, only a couple of float tubers use this forum?? Sorry, I'm laying low incase Chief and JD break out the guns. I love float tubes. Grew up fishing farm ponds in southern Oklahoma. I still think it's the best way to fish. I don't have one currently but I've been thinking about getting another this summer. I know that Wheatenhiemer just got one for Christmas so he should chime in. I do love the new designs. They are a lot better than the little donuts that we used to have.
