TroutFearMe Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 I am heading to Montauk this weekend and apearantly they are calling for rain all weekend long, but on they upside the lodge supposedly now has wifi so with that said I will be reporting every evening Friday and Saturday with fishing reports. P.S. anyone else heading down.
jdmidwest Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 WI FI at the lodge, wonderful. Now if you could just get a cell signal, you could be harrassed by all of the new electronic gadgets that you try to get away from while camping and enjoying the outdoors. Whatever happened to roughing it? "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson

Whatever happened to roughing it? JDMidwest: It is called freedom of choice. To each his own. Don't read the reports if you don't like them. I won't vote to take away your gun if you don't vote to ban My laptop. Troutfearme: We will (probaballly 99% of us) enjoy your reports and the time you take to give us an up to date report. Thank you for the extra effort. The last time I was at Montauk I used my laptop via satellite to send an important message to Oklahoma for an old gentleman staying next door. It gave him great peace of mind while "roughing it" and his family felt better that he was doing good on what might be his last outing with grandchlildren. Thom Harvengt
Gavin Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 You can get cell signal on just about any bluff top down there if you choose to hike up off the river..I rarely bother, but some fellows that I camp on the river with hike up to make phone calls, and answer emails when were out for a couple days. Have a great trip. Cheers.
Ill Trout Bum Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 I am heading to Montauk this weekend and apearantly they are calling for rain all weekend long, but on they upside the lodge supposedly now has wifi so with that said I will be reporting every evening Friday and Saturday with fishing reports. P.S. anyone else heading down. Yes, it is true the lodge has wi-fi. However, it only works part time at best. I hope you will be more successful in your emailing and posting ventures than we were opening day. Scott

I am confused Thom, are you not happy with the present state of the Union. Things not working out like you planned. What made it political this time? Why attack me or say I attacked someone else? Ever think that maybe you are jumping to conclusions too fast? I stated Wonderful, meaning, next time I go there I will have net access if I need it. I am technologically inclined and carry a laptop, pda, cell phone, digital camera, etc every time I go. I do prefer to get away sometimes and rough it also. Most camping trips are primitive since the electric sites are reserved months ahead and I can't make that kind of plans with my busy WORK schedule. There are no satellites in my tent, or electric for that matter. Looking at the post, my only fault was forgetting to put the second sentence in a different paragraph. hoglaw Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 No one's jumping to conclusions JD, it's in your signature line for goshsakes.
jdmidwest Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 No one's jumping to conclusions JD, it's in your signature line for goshsakes. Which one, Proud American or I voted for the other guy? One in the same. Are you a Proud American today if you voted for the current POTUS? If so, WHY? "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S.
