motoman Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 I hired one of those great guides last year to have a goose egg. My brother and I paid $260.00 for the three of us to fish for 8 hours and not have even a bite. I know that things happen and last year the water was high. I do not want to name names because our guide was considered to be one of the best. He was mentioned in the hour and half recording on this website last month as the best guide. I would hire a guide again but times have been tough and we don't have the extra money this year. I stumbled on this website and thought that some specifics could be given. Thanks, Stock Jockey - Dang stock, sorry to hear the rough luck. - I don't have any specific advice I can really give. As, I do just like I mentioned; the day before I leave to come down to The Rock (and one of the guys I'm with usually has a laptop, so we can check the reports while we're down too), I'll take notes on some of the reports (and research, research, research the boards beforehand), reference a hotspot map from BPS or Wal-Mart, and print the maps off the boards here; then depending what part of the lake we want to tackle, that's where we'll go. - But, I certainly don't get down enough to be an expert. - It typically works. Heck, last week we were down with the snow/rain/sleet/hail, and we caught fish (not as many as we should've, but we still caught 'em). None of our usual spots paid off, so we had to improvise. It was tough, but we pulled it off. But, only with the real time reports I got from the boards here.
