Fishing Buddy Don House Posted April 16, 2009 Fishing Buddy Posted April 16, 2009 Spent the day out today and stayed in the Indian Point to Brushey Creek... Started out really good, on my clients first cast hooked into a nice 3.5 spot, then for 4 more hours we had 5 all good keepers.. After 11:00 it really seemed to die on the stickbait, all fish came on the Clown colored McStick.. Yes I had to go buy some!! We even had a little breeze in the afternoon but nothing, switched over to a split shot rig with a cotton candy fish doctor on the main lake points in the creek arms and started catching them again.. No real size but still alot of fun, smaller fish are really stacked up on these points, we had a total in the afternoon of 20 plus fish some small keepers and alot of shorts.. All in all ok day, try it again in the morning, but we are going into K/C and up the White.. Good fishing Everyone Don Capt. motoman Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Sounds like a fun day indeed! Can't wait to get back down. - Keep us posted how you guys do up in K/C, too.
techo Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Hey Captain Don, I have to apologize to you and all of the guys on the lake today. The terrible stench you all were smelling was me. I caught zero fish! I put in at Aunt's Creek and fished toward Campbell Point. I tried to focus on the stick bait most of the morning, but finally gave up and went to the Eakins jigs. The sunny sky and wind made me try the spinner bait without success. Not much more to add. I am going out tomorrow. I haven't decided if I am going to Cape Fair or putting in at Mill Creek. I did see some dead white bugs on the lake. I am not sure if that had much to do with anything or not. It was still a great day on the lake. Where you putting in at tomorrow? Tim Carpenter

denjac Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 I too had a rough morning, only two short smallies from 7 - noon. Afternoon was a differant story, but I will let Bill tell about it. Members MOBURK Posted April 16, 2009 Members Posted April 16, 2009 I've been a member here for a couple of years and I have lurked the posts almost daily since. Thought I would put in my two cents on the fishing today. My brother-in-law and I put in at Cape Fair today and we fished from Woolly creek all the way, past the hwy. 173 bridge on Flat Creek. We threw stick baits, no fish. We threw spinner baits on windy banks, no fish. We switched to Eakin's jigs and were finally able to boat 5 fish (3 Kys. and 2 LMs, the largest was 14 in., the shortest was 12 in.) in the afternoon. It was a very lite bite and the fish did not seem to hold the bait long enough to get a hook on them. We had a lot of trailers that were pulled down after a failed hook set. It was a beautiful day to be out on the lake, none the less. We watched an Osprey fish for about 30 minutes, he was having better luck than we were, we thought we might get some pointers. But, no luck there either. We are going to try it again tomorrow. I will post again tomorrow, with better news I am sure. Ron
techo Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 I talked to four different people who fished today and only one said they caught a fish. They each said they spoke with people and it was a tough day on the water. I know I am just a regular guy, but that makes me feel a bit better. Tied a split shot on for tomorrow already! Thanks Don. I am leaning more toward Cape Fair after speaking with my buds today. It will be a late start as I have to put new trolling batteries in. Is your boat still blue? I saw a big red tank out there today. I will see you Sunday. It should be raining and a better bite...I hope. Tim Carpenter

Be sure and let us know how tomorrow goes!
techo Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Ron, Thanks for the report. I hope you will be willing to pitch in more reports. I hate posting the old, didn't catch anything report, but hopefully it will help someone eliminate water or techniques. Better yet.....they can tell me what I am doing wrong. I was starting to wonder about my Eakins....they never let me down. I am glad to hear they are still working for someone. Probably see you at Cape Fair tomorrow, but I am fishing the other direction. Be in a white/red Skeeter pulled by a blue Ford with a big Skeeter decal. Hope to see ya. Tim Carpenter
