Members jesse Posted April 20, 2009 Members Posted April 20, 2009 does anyone fish the old dam that's on the osage near jeff??? im goin there probly tommorow and want some pointer's. it's on lock and dam road a couple mile's from where the osage dump's into the MO,speaking of MO i went to the acess in jeff and fished some of the wing dike's but no luck.bunch of bite's but no luck any pointer's for there???
creek wader Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 If your bank fishing, it'll be tough, the Osage is up, not many places to stand. If your in a boat, be careful, as you approach the dam, a lot of metal and rocks there. You'll lose some tackle, a lot of snags. I'd use some live bait ie. shad or minnows. .. good luck, wader wader
Seth Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Throw shad colored crank baits along the East bank starting from the lock and working your way down. Usually you'll find a pocket of hybrids and can catch several. That's what we do anyways.

I was told by a old MO.river Rat (and it has proven true so far...) that the best wing-dike action comes from the dikes that are just downstream from big sand bars. The area from Portland access down to where the Katy trail turns away from the river is really good, and you can access several good dikes on foot, although a bicycle or a boat helps. And BTW, that little pub in Portland serves a mean tenderloin sandwich
