brownieman Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Went down to parkers about 4 this eve...sever thunderstorm warnings and tornado watches all over. Right when I got there the water looked good...little up and murkey and just sprinkling. By the time I got my gear on I was about half soaked...the rain got harder and harder till it felt like I was fishing in a monsoon. I have good gortex raingear...don't think anyone could hane fished it without grtting half soaked. Caught a couple of small ones and 1 decent brown. By the time I got back to the truck it appeared the water had rose a foot or so, pretty much rolling mud...lots of debris floating downstream. It was late in the day, took a few pics of the water, didn't turn out very good but i'll post them anyway. My friends say I'm a douche bag ?? Avatar...mister brownie bm <><
fishinwrench Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Gross ! As of midnite I see that it still hasn't crested at Akers.
ColdWaterFshr Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Is that 20-ft camper still set up down at Parker? It was there all weekend. Wish the river would rise high enough to wash that #$%@ thing away.
Nortrad Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 I'll second that. Got got in it yesterday, couldn't wade back below Tan Vat. Had to crash the brush, a tough trek 'till I got the trail. Got pin holes to patch today. Turned a few nice browns but couldn't get the hit with streamers. Going next week some time, hopefully the Big Muddy, I mean Current will clear up and drop.
Members jgentile Posted June 11, 2009 Members Posted June 11, 2009 Do you all think that the current will be wadeable this weekend? I'd be coming from St. Louis so I'd want the trip to be worthwhile. Thanks, Joe

Thanks, Joe The Current River at Montauk is fine right now for fishing. So without much more rain, you'll be fine to fish Tan Vat or Baptist. Anywhere below that, I'm not sure.
Members jgentile Posted June 12, 2009 Members Posted June 12, 2009 Thank you. I had a great time at Tan Vat last weekend and was hoping for an encore performance. Joe
