Arguments on this forum are a drag... at least nobody's currsin'. I enjoy what you big boys are reporting, whether it be the lakes or a place like Taney. Main reason I really enjoy this forum is to hear from the small water guys. That's what I am and will always be, I really enjoy it. This is a forum on the internet. Have Whack'em and Ozark Gunner ever met? Bet not. No reason to gripe... do what you do!

What a topic..

Let me just say this. I do a lot of night fishing with underwater lights 4 total 2 on each side of the boat + 2 lanterns turned down low. Now you would think that with all that light (because the underwater lights put off one heck of a glow) that I would not ever have 2 worry about getting run over. Yeah rt.

I can't believe the idiots out there that are just plain BLIND I guess & yes I even flip on the boat lights long before they get close.

So it really don't matter if there on or off, some dipstick will still come close 2 running you over...

That's why I gave up night fishing on the rock & moved to the Bull, guess what happens there also.

Granted not as much but it still does.

That's all,carry on men....

Gents, be grateful you live and fish in Missouri.....

I have a Daughter who lives lake-front on one of the three major water supply Lakes for Indianapolis. The State of Indiana mandates IDLE SPEED ONLY ! after dark, and that means precisely between Sunset and official Sunrise, and brother do they enforce it.... !!!

Talk about a funny sight..you should see the start of the night tournaments on the Lake she lives on.:lol: You guys would die laughing. My boat can idle faster than your boat is like watching one of those speed walking races in the Olympics. :P

On a lighter side to this, A few yrs ago, I was night fishing offshore, I'm sure over 50 ft, with a blacklight on. A boat came around the bend at least a mile away. I didn't flip on my lights as he was running the middle and in no danger of running over me. All of a sudden he headed straight toward me. As I said in a previous post, I keep a high powered spotlight on the front deck. I turned that on him as he approached and kept it on him, until he turned his flashing lights on. Woops, water patrol. He got fairly annoyed when I told him he should not have ran at me at the speed he was going. He read the 'lights on at night 50 ft from the bank' law to me and gave me a warning ticket. I wanted to ask him to measure to see if I was indeed 50 ft off the bank but sometimes its better to keep quiet. IMO, There are many times ( moonlite nights ) 60 mph at night is safer than 60 mph in the daylight ( heavy winds, lots of boats, seados, etc ). The 30 mph limit had to be set b/c of people who do not know the pitfalls of being on the lake at night. I will, however, fish with my lights off untilI see a boat coming, keep the spotlight handy and pay any fines I might get. Hopefully, someone will learn something from these posts that will keep them safer.

You're going to personally call the man? "You're gonna kill somebody." (That was your quote). Gunner, you've taken what whackem said and blown it completely out of proportion. With the personally calling the man comment I'm guessing you are either in law enforcement or under the assumption that you have the power and influence to have a cop at your beck and call anytime anywhere. If you are in law enforcement I hope you are not so "hollier than thou" in your job. Sir, you need to come down off of your high horse and mingle with us mere mortals a while.

I RESPECTfully disagree with my brother, Whacked. on this one. However I consider him a friend and would not cast stones. I do appreciate the diversity of each and the power of all.

Hey Tom, is mall cop one word, hyphenated or two words? :D

The guy in the video does not know how to operate a bass boat.should have trimmed the motor down before he hit that first wake.wasnt wearing a life vest .Checked the MO waterpatrol website archives Did not see a report of two bass boats colliding at night . Collisions are a reality and everyone thinks fast bass boats are the culprits.Read the reports you will see that most wrecks are PWCs or pleasure craft.[weekend warriors] Most bass fishermen are experienced enough to operate a boat safely . I know I dont want to wreck my rig on the way to my honey hole.Common sense always rules the day[or night]

maybe one of those hydrofoil things could help in getting a level ride... I have one that is the stingray brand , really made a difference in the way that it almost stayed completely level all the way through the rev to top speed.. it did take 3 mph off the top speed according to my gps but that is almost not even noticable.

not relation to the company or site just a link with a picture....stingray hydrofoil

I agree with Whacked %100 in everything he said.

I think 40 Mph to 45 would have been ideal MPH at night.

It is pure Stupidity to run NAV lights while setting 50 feet off the bank or even 100 if you blink your lights for oncoming traffic. If a person is running 50 ft or even 100 off the bank at night then you really do not know what you are doing and DO NOT need to be out there at night. It would be crazy to run 50 feet from the bank even on a full moon.

Most People can see a fisherman's boat while running(Even 40 MPH) at night by the blacklight near the bank.

It's Not like us night fishermen are out in the middle of the lake drop-shotting or Spooning. When it comes down to it, us tournament fishermen are not only the safest people out one the water at night but the most experienced also.

One thing before you say I am a "No good law-breaker" I wrote my representative and senator about this matter.

HAVE YOU?

ZZ

It would be just awful to have to call the Water Patroll at 3AM with a dead battery.

I would like to say thank you to all of the guys that have spoken up for me... and all of the guys that have RESPECTFULLY disagreed as well (hey Techo ;) )...

I apologize for getting into an argument on here... I don't like to do that... I don't feel it is the purpose for this forum and I try to avoid it. This forum is truly a family, and I guess all families have arguments from time to time-- but I know we all try to keep it to a minimum.

I will say no more... let's go fishing!
