FishinCricket Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 people are swimming at b-springs? I have only fished roaring river once, so do they let people swim in the park? what is a vinyl hatch? I have fished b-springs for 30yrs and never seen anyone swim, haven't been much this year but if people are swiming that is pretty crazy it'll get you a ticket, but people do it on occasion. Actually, I have to call down kids for jumping off the wooden bridge and floating down into the river.. It's been like that for years though, nothing changed. Dunno who any BAREFOOT kid would ever want to jump into that FREEZING water... And we wider why kids brain cells seem to be dropping out more often these days.. lol Travis and the rest: thank you for your thoughts.. I am glad to read them. cricket.c21.com

I have fished b-springs for 30yrs and never seen anyone swim, haven't been much this year but if people are swiming that is pretty crazy I've swam there a few times. Did a awesome half-ganer backflip with a 3/4 twist into the weedbed at the highbank hole one late December. Very invigorating !

brittsnbirds Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 A vinyl hatch is what another gentleman referred to a bunch rafters float through the area where we were fishing onthe trophy area at Roaring River. I can't say that I have witnessed anyone swimming at Bennett. At least not by choice!
Members jdixon Posted July 7, 2009 Members Posted July 7, 2009 thanks bird heard of bikini and aluminum hatch but not vinyl. I fished RR early this spring so had no idea they let people swim next to people fishing, that is pretty messed up.

Seriously, I think it's against the rules or something......... cricket.c21.com
Members jdixon Posted July 8, 2009 Members Posted July 8, 2009 I was talking about roaring river (RR) not B-springs. Looked at a map of RR and it even says kids swim area in a section of zone 2 or 3. I know you CAN'T swim at B.S. but sombody said they shut down the swim pool and saw or heard of people swimmig in the stream and in 30yrs of fishing their I had never seen that.
fishinwrench Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Nono, they don't allow them, they just do it anyways... (ahem, Wrench!).. Seriously, I think it's against the rules or something......... Yep, there were a few people fishing that hole when I decided to take a dip. Judging by the laughter I'd say they were good ol'boys and didn't mind at all. One time I was standing streamside re-rigging when a fella walked past pulling on a fancy briar pipe. When he opened his mouth to say "howdy" his hot pipe fell down the front of his high'dollar Orvis waders. He broke out into a cotton-eyed Joe then did the cha-cha slide right into the bluff hole. While he was floggin' the water and chokin' half to death I did what any good fellow angler trained in River Rescue would do....I made a desperate lunge for his Granger grass-rod, and guarded it with my life until it was obvious that he was gonna live. Hell, you can spend a couple Franklins in Branson and never see entertainment comparable to that.

Nah, I'm just kiddin', that'd a been my brother-in-law... Lol seriously though, your little rendition of the guy with the pipe has me rolling, that's freakin' hilarious! And you did what any good fellow angler (trained in river rescue) would have done, eh? lol, still giggling.... Cha-cha right into the bluff hole! Sometimes, boys, it's not so much the story as how ya tell it... Now what was this thread about? cricket.c21.com
