After you watch the video take the time to go to:

http://parkplanning.nps.gov/document.cfm?p...ocumentID=27597 (not sure how you do those link things sorry have to copy and paste)

And read the proposals and make comments, you can suggest changes to each proposal we need to protect our streams.

I'm with ya Turn... I've already sent in my comments. Just hope they've got the balls to do something about the mess those local young'ins are or have created! And it is the young people folks!

Really? Because the video suggested things have been getting out of hand since the 1960's. Maybe if you old folks had been keeping an eye on things (like so many other government programs i.e., social security) we wouldn't be in the mess we find ourselves in now. Then again, I guess it's easier to complain and blame others than to take a hard look at what you could have done or can do.

The video was made by a group of people concerned for the riverways. They are apparently very passionate about keeping these two rivers pristine. As am I. In the 60's, I had not had the pleasure to float them. I started floating them in 1977. When I began floating them, it was always just a a float. All we had in the canoe was a cooler full of beer. I was young then, but I, and the friends I floated with, knew that area was special. Started making regular trips down there as you stated, when I got "older", in the mid to late 80's. Started fishing them hard when I woke up and realized what a fishery they were.

Hey bud, no beef here. Sound's like you're a young guy. I'm not calling out all young people.

My post to Turn's wasn't a good post. Just wanna tell ya what I've witnessed in the last 10 to 15 years or so. Just my experiences, but every time I've actually seen or been involved with abusers, sorry, but they really are younger folks. Maybe you have witnessed otherwise. Jet boats being run by locals... some of them even have young family's on board. Kid's hanging over the bow, when they're doing doughnuts . They ain't fishing... they are out there just enjoying their back yard. Just give us out of towners a break! I try to fish mid-week on the more traveled waterways.

Make a difference, check out the thread on this forum concerning how you want the riverways to be managed!

Oh... by the way Catman, sorry about 'me" not overlooking the social security problem. Seems I'm ok. Save your money like I did.

I vote alternative A. What do you all think?

By the way, (although this wasn't the Current, but the Eleven Point), the guy that almost swamped my canoe with the wake of his jetboat was not exactly a young guy.... Just throwing that out there. He did seem very drunk however, which I believe is a problem if you're operating a powerful boat on a tight river. Just me

I always get a kick out of the way the people in a jet boat will pretty generally smile and wave at you right as they almost run over you. It's like they don't even know they did anything wrong.

Also, lets face it. The Current is a National Wild and Scenic River. What is wild or scenic about the roar of a jet boat, or the wake from one that almost tips over your canoe?

Really, not trying to start an argument with any responsible (that is the ones that actually slow down when they see canoers) jetboaters on here. I just don't think they belong in a relatively small section of a national river. I mean, they are considering banning jet boats above Round Spring. If you are on a jet boat above round spring anyway, I believe that is less than intelligent. Also, the idea of banning them on the entire Jacks Fork seems okay to me. That certainly doesn't seem like a jet boat friendly river anyway, but I could be wrong.

I haven't voted yet but I still have until the 31st to do so. I will be on the Current this weekend fishing for smallmouth. Unfortunately we chose one of the busiest sections on a weekend, Round Spring to Two Rivers. But we have floated this section on a weekend before and know what we are getting into. It should give me the information I need to base my decision on.
