Sad news for sure. Prayers for him and his family.

Everybody who is gonna be out after dark should really use a GPS at all times, for this very reason... not to mention getting lost is very easy without one... even if you know (or think you know) the area you are in very well.

Even if a guy can't afford a fancy graph with a GPS, there are many relatively inexpensive hand-held options out today. I would highly recommend the Lowrance H20 hand-held unit for anybody who is thinking of getting one.

Please be safe out there, everyone.

Once again, my prayers are out to him and his family/friends.

"A-Rig? Thanks, but no thanks. If I can't catch them on the conventional tackle that I already use, then I guess I just can't catch them." -LK (WHACK'EM)

As usual....I agree with Whacked. I have the H2O C and it is fairly unbreakable, accurate and worth the money. I would rather have a fancier mounted one, but it suffices in the fog and dark.

I grow sad at the thought of good people dying a preventable death. Prayers said at our house for the family, too.

Last I heard they had their GPS on but they missed the Big Cedar Island on the south side and then ran across and into One Tree Island.. Very sad time indeed, I'm sure he will be missed, Prayers will be said tonight for the family and the rider with him, I know he is having a very hard time as well...

Now hope that some of you will think of this the next time out at night or anytime as a matter of fact, wear your life jacket, please we don't need to loose any life!

Forgive my geographical ignorance, but where is one tree island at?

Just south of Big Cedar Lodge before the Hwy 86 Bridge... Just one tree on a little island..

The world is a small place. This is my first time on the forum in about a week....too much work. I am sorry to hear about the untimely death of Mr. Herringer. It turns out that his son and I are good coaching friends. Rob and I have been coaching together for about 4 years. Please pray for this wonderful family.
