focused fishing Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Hey Guys, A friend of mine, Mike Beezley, lost his brother a couple of weeks ago, his brother was a veteran of both Iraq and Afghanistan. Unfortunately, he had very little money and his parents had to pay for the funeral. Mike is putting together a benefit tournament to help pay his parents back for the funeral. The soldiers name was David Beezley, I got the opportunity to meet David and take him and his brother fishing shortly before David passed. David was a great kid; he was 26 and was a Sgt. in the Army. He served in both Iraq and Afghanistan. I don't know the last time I fished with someone that enjoyed catching fish as much as David did. His brother Mike has been an avid angler his whole life and David really took to the sport since returning home. David told several stories about his experience in the Middle East while we were fishing and it really hit home with me just how lucky we all are to have young men like him that are willing to go to war to protect our freedom. Anyway... The tournament will be on Table Rock out of Ahoy's on September 27th, safe light to 3:00. They are working out the details as far as entry fee and payback; I will post the details as I have them. It would be great to see as many Ozark Anglers Forum there as possible. techo Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Hey brother EP, If you remind me when we get closer....I will give you my entry fee again. Don't much care about payback. Tim Carpenter
focused fishing Posted July 24, 2009 Author Posted July 24, 2009 Thanks Techo, Knew you'd be there. I will keep this thread going as I get more info. This has been a little tough for me, I've been taking a few returning vets fishing for the last couple of years, seems like the least I can do. David was a great kid and it was a shock when I found out about it. motoman Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Heckuva a great cause. And hats off to you Eric for taking vets out on the water. Very admirable! - Not sure if I'll be able to make it, as I don't get down much. But, here's a bump to keep this thread fresh, and help me keep tabs on it in case I can break free.
Crappie5 Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 I'm in if my partner can do it, I will call him tonight. Like Techo...I will donate my entry...........

Champ188 Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Eric, Count me and Donna in. BTW, there's going to be a UFO (unidentified fishing object) on the lower end of TR today — ME. So tired of catching dinks up the White that I could scream. Dinks on docks, dinks on points, dinks on the rolloffs out to 35 feet. Same in the Kings. I hear rumor there's some huge concrete object down toward Branson that actually holds the water back. Oh yeah, and a big paddleboat parked nearby. Say it ain't so! If I don't report back by mid-day Monday, someone send out a search party for me and Donna.
getfished Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Hey Eric. That is unfortunate to have to report a young soldier's passing. I have been reading but not posting for some time now, waiting for something to spur me into action. I would love to fish this TX but truth is I may not. I could however maybe post up some type of scholarship fund of a minimal amount and maybe we could combine that with others who might like to contribute in a nominal way until we receive enough to fund a couple of youngsters to go along as non-boaters. This would help support our youth and show them that there are many ways to support our soldier's and country. It's just an idea of a way for more people to support this cause even though they may not be able to attend. I'm not trying to complicate things or steal anyone's thunder. Just a thought and if it doesn't fly then I still will make an effort to support it. GETFISHED !!! http://www.tacklespecialty.com/
