KCRIVERRAT
Question... what's the deal with the shuttle fees on this river? I figure it's got something to do with the park service being it's a national park. Every other river I've ever rented canoes from doesn't charge the fees these outfitters do. I know that all outfitters charge extra if they shuttle you way upstream from their location, and if they have to pick you up before you arrive at their location. I understand that part of it. But heck... we rented from the Gilbert general store last week and our trip was from Tyler Bend to Gilbert. Three mile shuttle upstream tops! $25 for the ride? Who gets that money? I mean... you rent a canoe for $45 (in Missouri they're "only" $40 on weekends, cheaper than that during the week), then they tack on the shuttle fee! It's really expensive if you head further upstream. Any reply's on this would be appreciated! By the way... might be purchasing a canoe tomorrow! KCRIVERRAT
I apologize for posting this on the Taney forum. Just started typing. Couldn't figure out how to bump it over to the Buffalo forum. Hope I still get some answers... KC HUMAN RELATIONS MANAGER @ OZARK FISHING EXPEDITIONS
KCRIVERRAT
What kind of canoe? Old Town 169... it's in great shape. If the money's right, I'm on it. If not... I really liked the way my rods layed in a Buffalo canoe I floated in last week. HUMAN RELATIONS MANAGER @ OZARK FISHING EXPEDITIONS

KCRIVERRAT
Thanks griz... thinking my Discovery 169 purchase will go thru. If not, might contact them about their Buffalo's. Do you like that particular canoe? HUMAN RELATIONS MANAGER @ OZARK FISHING EXPEDITIONS
rps
I am always interested when people arrive at the same destination at different times. I just sold a 169 (as you know) and I am very happy with my new kayak. Hope all works out for you.

Zack Hoyt
Check out these guys next time you are in the area before buying a boat......http://www.ozarkmtc.com/ I dont know about the shuttle costs. Seems about what I have payed anywhere I went. There are only a few outfitters on the river, and they have to pay for their concessionaires license. Not an excuse by any means....just a thought. hank franklin
Regarding the shuttle fees, are you saying you paid $45 for canoe rental PLUS the $25 shuttle fee?
