Zack Hoyt
Nice Zach... it would be great to fish with you someday. KC I look forward to it. Still getting hammered with rain here in the NW corner of the state. Kings, Elk, and the Buffalo should be primed for floating and fishing this weekend. Weather looks awesome. If you are wondering about water, give a few of the outfitters a call and see what they say. Most of them are more than happy to give recommendations. Members Allen R.
Thanks everyone for the info. My wife just informed me that there are black bears in that region, and she has a funny fixation/phobia of bears. Have any of you guys ever encountered a black bear down there? Are there any precautions that you guys take? I'm trying to convince her we still need to go down there because it sounds like it's very beautiful. Danimal
I've seen one bear on the Kings (ran like hell when he saw us) and have found tracks along the Buffalo. Keep a clean camp and you shouldn't have any problems. Watch out for the racoons at the campgrounds along the buffalo -- they know how to open coolers and Rubbermaid containers, and they love Hershey Bars. Dan-o RELEASE THOSE BROWNIES!! Ham
I hope to see a black bear from a distance on the Buffalo or KIngs or any other river I float. Racoons at night will LIKELY check out your campsite. Bungee the cooler shut. REALLY. We've had a nice summer. More water than usual and less heat than usual. You've been given good advice on the river. I hope you guys have a great trip. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. Members Allen R.
Just wanted to thank everyone again for the information. We camped at Kyle's Landing and had a great time. The water was low there, not very floatable as noted, but deep enough to enjoy. We hiked on Indian Creek bed with a couple people we met and had a good time, though we had a hard time finding the trail to take us to the Eye of the Needle. We ended up floating lower river below Tyler Bend as recommended. The river was slow and enjoyable, and the fishing was actually pretty good over there (nothing big). We floated 4.5 miles starting at Spring Creek. On our way out, I stopped at Crooked Creek for an hour or so and caught a good amount of smallies on a tube. What a great creek, I'd love to fish that from a boat some time. Thanks again for the helpful information.
