Who comes recommended locally ? I have 2 old Mercury motors, both 6.6 I believe.

One ran about 15 years ago.. the other not for 50 years or so.

Thanks in advance the information.

Availability of parts is going to come into play. Ignition coils are hard to come by, do they both have good spark ?

Starter recoil springs are probably extinct also.

There is a club up in Wisconsin that pays top dollar for those old Mercury's (running or not) providing all the parts are there. I lost the contact number for them, but they used to watch Ebay like hawks.

Here's your model/year info

There are some pretty good wrench turners over at Kimberling City. Brian Hayter at Ulrichs is quite good.

I'll try to post back the particulars ... year & model #'s. Thanks for the tip about Ulrich's. I will probably look into that. Unless anything else pops up.

eBay for boat motor sales... ?!?! hmmmm.... how does that work ?

They bid and buy, but how do you ship it ? Crate ... cardboard washing machine box ?

It should be one of the three year/class I posted earlier (1937 - 38 - 39) I think that is the only period they were made.

When I ship powerheads or complete outboards I build a pallet out of 2x1's, strap the motor to it, and wrap it with cardboard.

Brian, there is an "old" antique outboard show coming to Rockaway Beach Sat. Sept 12. Not sure where though. I am supposed to go pick up a motor for a friend over on the Spring River. Actually I think it starts Friday and goes through the weekend.
