denjac Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Unloading furniture last night from a big rig into my truck. Fell out of the trailer onto the edge of the floor on my truck. Didnt hurt real bad until a couple hours later, then extreme man pain. Had to take the furniture to Berryville this morning. Boy 86 hwy around Eagle Rock area was sure rough due to resurfacing and was killing my rib and back in that bouncy truck. Thought about hurling my body over the bridge at Eagle Rock to end the pain. Got to my destination and my customer and another guy unloaded for me, whew! Never had a broken rib before , but it sure is painful. Ibuprofen knocks the edge off. Nothing but time about 6 weeks to heal. Bet I can still fish though, might have to have a driver though as getting up out of the seat might be a killer. KCRIVERRAT Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Know those curves well denjac on 86 from Eagle Rock over to Carr Lane. Hope you weren't swaying to much! Just think... Brett Favre says he's playing with broken ribs. But he's a hell of a lot tougher than me! Wife cracked a rib while tubeing long ago in Shell Knob. In fact, too many trips through the years to the ER in Berryville. Inhale slowly buddy! KC HUMAN RELATIONS MANAGER @ OZARK FISHING EXPEDITIONS
Buzz Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Hang in there Denjac. I know exactly how it feels. Several years ago I was climbing over a cattle panel fence with a bucket in one hand when my foot slipped and I landed on the edge of the fence. I had a hard time catching my breath. I didn't go to the hospital, but I know I broke a couple of ribs. You just know. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
rps Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Have you actually been to the doctor? If it is a rib, there is danger from several sources. If it is cartiledge, it is incredibly painful but far less life risk. Go see the man, or woman, and take care of yourself. As I have had one of each, I will tell you, I feel for you. rps

fishinwrench Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Oh yeah...I seperated a couple of ribs once... it's a MF'er. By all means do nothing that might trigger a coughing fit, or uncontrollable laughter, cuz you'll pass out. Hope you heal more gracefully than I did.
denjac Posted September 2, 2009 Author Posted September 2, 2009 By all means do nothing that might trigger a coughing fit, or uncontrollable laughter, cuz you'll pass out. Hope you heal more gracefully than I did. The coughing or laughter is the worst pain. Dont think I am being very gracefull either. RPS I have not been to the Dr. as I believe all they will say is , yep its broke, go home and it will heal in about 6 weeks. The Ibuprofen dulls the pain pretty good so dont need any pain meds. Just hate to waste the money for a Doc. Canceled our insurance last Feb as they raised the rates to $1000. a month. Just playing the wait game until all this insurance mess gets squared away.
