If you're bait fishing, make sure to stay below Fall Creek...

I would guess Powerbait and worms would do the trick, but who knows.

Yea- your question doesn't look good. I'd stay below Fall Creek and use gulp eggs in orange and pink. Stay out of the trophy area is you want to keep fish.

check out my report from Sunday. Gulp eggs in chart, orange and white and according to Phil pink also. Those 4 colors and you've got it covered. I also used night crawlers and did well. Be sure to inject them with air to float them off the bottom. Use just enough split shot about 18" up from the bait to get it down to the bottom. Good luck!

I have only fished Taney 6 times and each time has been in the trophy section so I have not kept any fish. But Troutgnat, I read your post and you said:

"Be sure to inject them(worms) with air to float them off the bottom"

Well I have not do this before, so how do you do this? What type of can air? Does the hook let the air escape?

The advice is right on - the wife is using pink/white power bait and she is doing well. I am thowing a small brown jig with great success by the boat ramp near fall creek. Must have CnR'd 15 in a 2 hour period this a.m.

We do use the injected crawler - the best is to buy a syringe or they sell little plastic bottles with a needle on the tip....if you are in the area they sell them at Lilleys store. I normally hook the worm below the heart and pump up above the heart....gently or you can "pop" the worm. after that I pinch off the remaining below the hook as that keeps the fish from pecking at the bait and helps them commit.
