ozark trout fisher Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 click here to read the rest of the story Wow! What a fish. That had to be a lake run brown. I just can't imagine a fish growing that large in a Michigan stream.
Jeremy Hunt Posted September 10, 2009 Author Posted September 10, 2009 It was a lake run, and a female at that. What???????????? Accept the drift.....<>>><flysandguides.comVisit my blog
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted September 10, 2009 Root Admin Posted September 10, 2009 What a fish... guess someone will have to catch that 50 pound brown swimming around in Taney now.
Greg Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Great fish. Kind of sad if ole Rip's record is broken though. Greg "My biggest worry is that my wife (when I'm dead) will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it" - Koos Brandt Greg Mitchell
laker67 Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 My congrats to Tom Heally. What a tremendous brown! Wow!
Gavin Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Tremendous fish...Says he caught it on the lower Manistee. My guess is that it swam up out of Lake Michigan.

It's a bit early for the fall lake-run browns, but it almost had to be from Lake Michigan. It didn't really have the typical silvery color of a coaster brown, but who knows.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted September 10, 2009 Root Admin Posted September 10, 2009 He was fishing with guide Tim Roller. They were either throwing or trolling crank baits for kings - didn't try for a brown but it happens. I'll have another pic of the fish and roller tonight via Jim Johnson.
