went out today with a friend, for a few hours this evening.

Had pretty decent luck with all of the dink bass. Must have caught around 15-20 in a matter of a couple of hours.

we found most of them in shallow water, directly adjacent to deeper water....such as fishing the shorelines on the main channels. Most of the bite was in the middle of the first descent to the bottom. Within the first 10-15 seconds of the bait being in the water, in about 3-5 feet of water.

The bass seemed to be hitting EVERYTHING we threw at them. I started with a chartreuse gets-it (tube jig). After I lost that on a submersed tree branch, i tied on a texas rigged, 7 inch motor oil colored plastic worm. Used that for the remainder of the day.

My friend started with a moccasin colored texas rigged 7 inch plastic worm, and eventually moved to a white skirted, colorado blade spinner bait.

We both were getting bit all day long.

If we had caught every bite we had, it would have probably amounted to double the amount of fish in our boat.

Like I said, no monsters though.

My friend lost a pretty decent bass on the spinner bait, but other than that, all of our fish were in the 12-14 inch range....which is still fun any day of the week.

Later in the evening, we moved to the backs of coves, and were having about the same type of success that we were having on the main channel.

By the way, the bait fish are IN the backs of coves on pomme de terre already. I didn't see much feeding frenzy action on topwater tonight though. I can only assume that the bass will be moving in within the next couple of weeks for sure. Can hardly wait to bust out the big spinners and land me a few lunkers this fall.

(By the way, how do i post this topic as a labeled "fishing report"?

The same thing is happening on parts of Stockton. I have been wanting to get to PdT. Now you have really given me a reason to hook up and go. Thanks for the good report.

Thanks for the report.

I've hit Pomme 3 times this summer and it sucked each time.

I enjoy that lake and have been wanting to go back, just waiting on the hit.

I'll give it a try Sat

Had some good keepers from LOZ last week, but still a very busy area.

Anybody heard of any whites there?

I need some whites to eat, and LM for fun.

Sounds like you had a good trip. I need to get back on Pomme and start doing a little bass fishing. Haven't been over there much the last couple of months. Will hit it hard on Saturday for crappie.

Brad,

I'm heading down this weekend fishing for bass. Any ideas? I am really ready to start catching fish on something other than worms and jigs...

Thanks

The spinnerbait bait on pomme should be really heating up. It's always been good this time of year. Small coves off the main lake with some timber are the best.

Chris,

I didn't fish for bass any this weekend, just focused on crappie. However I saw some guys catch several keepers on crankbaits. With the water cooling down I would think the crankbait and spinnerbait bite should start.

Good luck and let us know how you do.

Thanks for your input guys, I will give em hell this weekend and report back on Monday. Any suggestions on what crankbait you would throw this time of year?

Thanks

I couldn't find any spinnerbait fish. Most of the fish I could catch were in deep water between 15 & 25'. I fished from Bolivar access to Pittsburg access. Points were best.
