I'm planning a couple Meramec solo floats for this fall and/or early winter, and I'm trying to figure out how to get shuttles. I emailed a few liveries about schedules. Garrison's was the only to reply, they said they close October 17th. Anyone know any other places that are open year round on the upper to upper-middle Meramec that do shuttles?

Greens will help you out if they can. The guy down at Scott's Ford is the same way, Adventure Outdoors I think. If they're available, you're on. Oh yeah, Huzzah Valley too. They'll probably take care of you if no one else can.

Thanks Hank. I'll check them out.

You can always round up a buddy and run your own if the outfitters cant help you. The floatable sections on that river are usually big enough to share, and it saves a bit of $ too.

That's usually what I do, and that's why I'm not really familiar with the liveries' schedules. But my regular fishing buddy just had a baby and he's gonna be out of commission for a while, hence the need for the shuttle.

Ozark Outdoors at Onondaga is also open pretty much year-round. Bear Bass there has shuttled me a lot of times during the winter. Nice guy, great service.

Do you know if any of these canoe rentals will do a winter shuttle for the Highway 8 to Scotts Ford stretch? I don't necessarily need to rent, just a shuttle. Also with such the short light in the winter, would it be a good idea to divide that float (9 miles or so) into a two day, one night camp trip?

Thanks for any help. I'm not much of a winter floater, but I'm looking forward to trying it out this year. Just gotta remember the coat and gloves.... Plus that warm sleeping bag. :D
