TroutRinger Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Is anybody familiar with the Little Sac River between McDaniels and Fellows Lake? I am thinking about taking my kayak up there at some point. How's the bass population and floating conditions? Same questions about the Sac and Little around Ritter Spring Park. Thanks for any info. "Of all the liars among mankind, the fisherman is the most trustworthy." "There's a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore like an idiot."
Dutch Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 I have been on them for quite a while but I used to float both and they had a lot of log jams on them.
RSBreth Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 If I was coming all the way from St. Louie I would go to the Niangua or James or Gasconade before trying one of the Sacs.

Yeah the smallmouth population may not be great but they will surprise you from time to time. I haven't been on the section between the lakes and the water around Ritter Springs is sometimes a little funky sometimes. But once you get out around Willard and Morrisville you are starting to get into better water. Not many points of access but if take the time to get away from the accesses you will find some good water. One very positive thing about the Sac is that when you do find an access you won't find the usual trash that you find around other river access points. And I'm talking about the people, not the actual garbage. Plus it's a pretty good white bass stream in the spring.
smallmouthjoe Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Hey guys, I have a friend that lives outside of Ash Grove on a little stream. I fish it from time to time and it's a good smallmouth stream, but I don't know the name of it. I thought it was The Sac but she thinks it's called something different. Does anyone know if the Sac Runs through of around Ash Grove? I've done a little research and have found nothing.

It's actually the Little Sac that I was talking about around Willard and Morrisville. Which can be confusing because there is a Little Sac arm and a Big Sac arm of the Little Sac. But it could also be Turnback Creek which holds some nice Smallmouth. Of course there are several feeder creeks in the area that also hold some nice fish. Is that clear as mud yet???

You know it might be TurnBack because I've seen cottonmouths there and to my knowledge Turnback is one of the only streams around that has a resident population of cottonmouths. Of course they could have made their way to neighboring streams. But I have a professor that goes there to study them, I'll ask him if he knows what stream it is. Thanks.
