Wheatenheimer Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Nice job! It looks great! I was wondering if you could build me a "beer holder/pouch" for the size of can pictured on the left? All kidding aside, thanks for sharing your wisdom and skills with us! Kevin

All kidding aside, thanks for sharing your wisdom and skills with us! Kevin You know Kevin, all kidding aside, that would be pretty sweet to have sitting behind you on a two or three day float. You could have a hose running straight to your mouth from the keg. You'd have to figure out a way to keep it cold, but that thing would be a great floating companion. Obstacles on the river would become a much bigger problem by 3 or 4 P.M.
eric1978 Posted October 5, 2009 Author Posted October 5, 2009 Does anyone know how much of an impact moving a thwart, say 6 inches or so from where the factory sets them? I'm thinking about moving my rear thwart forward for another modification, but I don't want to mess up the structural integrity of the canoe. Any advice?
RSBreth Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 I don't think moving it a few inches would matter. Like your mods, but do you like those "molded" seats? I hate them - I like to move around in the seat, and need a flatter surface for that
eric1978 Posted October 5, 2009 Author Posted October 5, 2009 Love the rod holders, I am definitely stealing your idea. Mine is a Kaynoe-but they look exactly the same. I'm pretty sure the Kaynoe and 119 have the exact same dimensions. Let me know if you want a parts list or other instructions and I'll post them for you to take the guessing out of it.
eric1978 Posted October 6, 2009 Author Posted October 6, 2009 So I picked up a paddle today at Alpine Shop. Settled on a Bending Branches Arrow for $75. Palm grip. 56". It seems maybe a tad long, but the kid at the store said a good rule of thumb is that if you rest the blade on the top of your foot, the handle should come to between your collar bone and your chin, and it does. I don't know if he knows what he's talking about. Anyone have an opinion on proper length? Anyway, it's the nicest paddle I've ever had, and light as a feather. Maiden voyage is tomorrow. Gonna float a stretch of the Meramec. Hopefully I'll stay in the canoe and hook a few smallies.

Woodworking is another passion of mine, a distant second behind smallmouth because it's such a darned expensive hobby to have. But I've been picking up tools here and there that I can afford now, and one day I'll get the big boys I need to start building furniture. Ah, dreams. Anyway, I set sail tomorrow so I'll let you all know how she rides. I'm bringing a change of clothes in my dry bag, just in case.

But I feel pretty comfortable in it so far. I have a feeling there will be a pad in my future, but we'll see.
